I haven't seen anyone post one of these yet, but I recently got and installed a BB FP Red. I've been dialing in the tune today and have seen as high as 441whp/382tq but the tune was too aggressive for my taste so I pulled it back a little and the following is the result. ~50 degrees outside.

Power Mods are:

BB Fp Red
Map Shortrunner Tubular Exhaust Mani
Turbo Xs TBE w/ Ams o2 Dp
AGP FMIC
Perrin 3 Port
Speed Circuit UICP
AFE Intake
Cobb 3" FP Turbo Inlet Pipe
ID 1000's
Walbro 255 pump.
I tuned it to ~26psi on 93 octane.

Stock Cams and Stock Clutch!

I was able to achieve 23psi by 3600 and the full 26psi by 3800-3900 typically. I think that's pretty good for a Red on a tubular exhaust mani! The supplied graph has 2 pulls on slightly different tunes. I haven't dialed everything in the way I want it, but I'm pretty close so I figured I'd drop some results by.

The car feels great, the spool is plenty sufficient for my taste, and the turbo sounds sick!

UPDATE:

After a little more fine tuning, I worked with the maps and messed with upward boost correct to prevent the slight overboost spikes that often are accompanied by going WOT when already at high RPMS. The results are in the second attachment :D

Who is tunning the car? spool seems the same as a non-BB ... i wanna see clipse do is mivec thing lol :) see how much better than a non-bb it spools...

GSR right?

How does the car feel? as in lag compared to stock etc etc and are you running built block?

I am tuning the car, and albeit I'm not Clipse, I am running decently aggressive mivec on the car - up to 33 degrees intake advance at spool up. I may be able to squeek a bit more out of the spool but I'm not convinced there is much more there. I think the tubular exhaust mani is holding me back from spooling much faster than the typical Red. Although, no one has ever shown spool results of the BB FP turbos in comparison to the Journal Bearing ones (that I have ever seen), so we don't really know what to expect in terms of spool. I'm a bit disappointed, but perhaps I had my hopes too high, or perhaps there is a lot more spool left that I haven't reached yet, I'll be tinkering with the Red for weeks to be honest.

Yes this is stock block.

Bah, i was hoping i would be the first with a bb red..lol. impressive results. Was the 26psi the aggresive tune or the one you backed down abit?
The too aggressive one that hit me at 441 was at 27psi. Consistent pulls on it didn't make me happy though, I was getting intermittent knock up top that was real knock so I moved away from it. Also 27psi makes me nervous on a red, to be honest the tune I'll probably be daily driving with will be my auto x tune, which should end up around 25.3psi and around 420ish whp / 370ish wtq. I'm still on stock block so I'm going to try to take it easy overall.

You have to figure as well. About every 1 psi is equal to 10hp (not whp). So a Red is capable of about 60 lbs / min. So about 600 hp @ crank. Figure another 20% drivetrain lose you are about 480-500whp max. What you need to do to get most power is know what your turbo is flowing, log g/sec. IIRC, the Red flows about 460 g/sec. So that's what you need to reach to hit max flow.

I think the numbers seem on par with a Red. I think a Red is capable of 500whp. No doubt in my mind. But on 93 octane I am 99% sure it would need a Aquamist Meth system to get that benefit.

The Red over Green is that generally that the Red should have a cooler charge. So there will be more gain. From what I am seeing the results are close to being on par with my initial thoughts of the BB units. About 200 rpm gain in spool. But the transient response should be much better.

All in all the BB Red will spool like a JB Green. So a BB Green will be close to stock spool with capability of 420-460whp MAX. Green is only 400-410 g/sec.

I would be more interested to see what you are flowing vs. what you are making power. Since when you are out of airflow nothing else matters since you can't make more power, you can remove restrictions but nothing there to make power.

If you want I can look over your maps and see if you can improve anything if you want. Let me know.

Looks good man. Im sure you will find yourself doing just fine at autox with this setup. But a ported stocker would have helped spool that ish up a bit. Numbers look good though. I made 443whp/377tqw with my red. That should be fine for the stock block

Clipse, I will take you up on that offer 100% once I'm done fine tuning it. In a couple days I'll hit you up :D I still want to try a few things with mivec to see if I can get a little better spool. I'll also hit you up with some logs too that show the g/s you were talking about.

Good spool. You won't see much faster initial spool w/ the BB, but you will notice much better transient response like between shifts. And the bearing will live much much longer.
I think the spool is pretty good w/ a tubular manifold for sure.

These are almost my exact numbers but i have a non ball bearing red. i have pretty much the same exact mods (except clipse tune). The only difference is that you spool about 200 rpm earlier.
