Open. With the helmet, its a bit awkward with the windows up. Everything is muffled and too quiet.

Windows down allows me to hear more, whether its other cars, engine noise, or tire noise.

Cool. I want to have all windows open but was worried they wanted them closed. Only time my windows are closed is when I park the car.

NASA requires you to have back windows up and fronts down, even in the rain, even if you're driving an Aston Martin, though they eventually let him put his front passenger up when it was down pouring

I would recommend a lap timer, I use race chrono is a works well on my android and is very useful for telling optimal times, understanding exactly how much time you lose when you make a mistake, and get a better understanding of how you actually drive.

Honestly, for your first day, all I would do is flush the brake fluid with a high quality fluid (like Castrol srf), get yourself a decent tire pressure gauge and have fun! Depending on how much other experience you have (read how fast you're going to be) maybe upgrade the pads. However, the stock Evo x pads aren't terrible for a novice driver. I drove on them for probably 5 track days (4 of them at Watkins Glen which is TORTURE on the brakes) before going the st-43 route. Butt your first track day should be about learning ad much as possible and having fun, not modding the car and worrying about going fast.
