Just wondering if this is an OE programming kinda thing, now that the weather has turned chilly, I've noticed on a few pulls that somewhere around the top of 4th, usually around 6500rpm, the car will suddently jerk a bit and basically feel like it's hitting a fuel cut of sorts. I glaced at the WBO2 during the event and sure enough it shot dead lean when it happend. Checked the FPR hose, everything is fine there, never happens in gears 1-3, only at the top of 4th. Am I right in assuming this is some kind of pre-programmed protection or is something going goofy on me?

Likely boost/load limit, which cuts fuel (hence the lean). Modifications with no tune?

Colder weather and mods plus higher gears will help you find that limit quicker.

Just an intake and TBE with a Cobb stg 2 tune, I'm thinking that'll be the answer though, thanks!

If it's trying to throw you through the windshield, it's boost/fuel cut. If it's little tugs it's ignition, or det.

how much gas did u have in your tank. This exact same thing happend me at the track and i was low on gas....fuel starvation.

Exact same situation with me on the track except for mine was occuring on straightaways at the top of 4th gear only so it could not have been fuel starvation because the tank was near full and it was not on a turn .. It happened around 6500 rpm to me as well, like you stated ...

Heres the solution: A neat little trick a GT2-RS owner taught be at the track who had experienced the same issue with his car .... The trick: Unplug your battery completely so the car has no power .. Let it sit for about 10 mins .. Then replug the battery, hop back on the track really fast and mash it thru all the gears .. The car sort of reconfigures itself and reteaches itself your driving style ... Like a type of minor tuning i guess

It fixed my probably instantly and has fixed it twice afterwards during track days .. Try it out, i betchya it will work

Yea the same spot for me. Get on the back stretch, hit 4th gear 6500rpm and hits fuel cut. I backfired a few times and the guy in the evo behind me seen a couple fire balls out come..lol
