I got the factory reflash a few weeks ago, but i have been working out of town and haven't had much driving time with my X. Anyway, I love the reflash as the car doesn not bog down at low rpms, and also it at first seeme to have fixed the stutter/hesitation felt at high rpms.

Before the reflash the car would accelerate smooth untill like 6200-6500 rpms and then it would stutter and jerk ALOT. However, I was on the highway today and to have some fun went to just accelerate from 40-80 just for thrills (don't call me an idiot or dumb*ss or whatever cause I don't drive dangerous but I do appreciate having fun, there weren't any other cars around when I did this).

Anyway, the car still hesitates!!!! Not like before, but now it sort of jerks once at like ~5200 rpm, then once at 6k rpm then once near redline. This is WOT btw. So it is not a very smooth acceleration, feels like i have it floored and then pick up my foot and floor it again realy fast.

does/is anyone else having this problem? the car is still completely stock.

Same problem here. If rpm b/w 3k-5k, and give more than 50% throttle, the rpms jump quickly (too quickly) up 500-1000rpm, then fall just as quickly 250-500 rpm, and then it feels like there is a split second of lag b4 it picks back up again. It does this in all gears, but not when in neutral. At first i thought maybe an intercooler hose was choking, but b/c it doesn't do it in neutral, I'm thinking it has to be ecu. (My build date was 12/2007 if that helps you know what flash i have)

I hope this is just a problem with the flash itself because it would really suck for those who already begun modding to try to bring in their evo x's and have the stealership come and say that they can't honor the warranty.

add me to the list. Car actually was running really good and I went in to get the re-flash "just in case"...

Now my X hesitates at WOT in 4th and fifth. At the track, it almost felt like a speed limiter... car wouldnt drive past 90 without fighting back. I was at the track all day, so I experimented with stock boost solenoids, stock air box, cone air filter, and Electronic Boost controller.... All turned up the same results.

Car is going back to the dealer to get checked out... im sad

Hrm, I dont recall having any issues like this after the re-flash. Especially when compared to the stock activity. One thing is for sure, the Unichip has cleared up all of that noise.

well, my X is at the dealership. I think that the only solution to the sputter will be an aftermarket flash. The problem is the dealer is having a hard time replicating the hesitation since they dont have a dyno to test the car on... and "road testing" at WOT proves to be more difficult than it sounds.

I'm picking her up later today... Looks like Ill be in the market for an aftermarket tune.

Class-action lawsuit anyone?

Interesting news...

Apparently, Techline at MMNA is still aware of the ongoing high RPM issues, and are currently working on a follow-up re-flash to correct it. They are test-flashing their current cars.

This next flash will specifically address the high RPM WOT rich misfire issues, idle RPM range, another MPG correction (leaner means better on gas)...

ETA for internal flashing 2 weeks. Public release 4-6 weeks pending Federal approval due to fuel corrections...

I dont know if I can wait another 2 months.... I think I will look into aftermarket flashes at this point...

You are better waiting for the flash before getting the after market flash imho. If you do it know, then get the re-work, you will need another after market flash again. If you have someone that is just up the street that can do this for you, its not as big of a deal though. However, if you have to mail in, you end up with an expensive car sitting in the driveway.

Thats what I thought, but I sat around for a bit chatting with the service mgr and we both agreed that perhaps the aftermarket flash would be the way to go since it would be custom tailored to fit my needs/mods... whereas if we waited for the next factory flash, it would still only set the car to new OEM settings so-to-speak in need of an aftermarket tune in the end.... Either way, the custom tune would be more advantageous to my purposes...

Well, I can't believe that I thought this was an ECU problem for my car, turns out clutch was slipping, full description is in thread for transmission called "the smell"
