I hope you have an amazing lawyer. Suing big corporations is no joke. I hope it is actually their fault and not yours. I've never heard of this problem before so I am subbed to this thread and see where it goes.

I know of 1 case where a guy sued Nissan trying to declare his brand new GTR as lemon and won the case. He got a brand new fully loaded GTR in return. Hopefully you will win your case and get upgraded to a fq400 for free ;)

Link? He got a new GTR in addition to the lemon he already owned? Meaning he has 2 now?

I don't get how the notchy feeling of the manual and the SST failures are related...

Also, I don't get how the notchy feeling is cause for a lawsuit. Are you sure it's not the way you drive it?

@ sueing colt cars uk

Your fighting a losing battle mate.

I agree with you, Ive had nothing but trouble with the transmission on my UK fq330 GSR man.

The problem is the colt car companys FQ Evo's run more power than the others around the world, Mitsi told them that FQ's wouldnt carry Mitsi warranty and they dont.

They have "colt car company warranty" I live in germany and every time my evo broke Mitsi just shook their head at me saying "colt need to fund the warranty work" then all they do (the robbing bastards) is try to get out of paying.

Ive had a Transfer box go, x3 clutches, a CMC, two gear selectors and the gears are very notchy and sometimes wont go into 1st at junctions etc...

what is the reason you are suing them for???

My complaint is simple.. mitsubushi weston super mare sold me an evo 10 fq360, 4 days before they sold it to me they bought it back of the first owner after complaining for over a year + and having 3 new gearboxes fitted by the same group of mitsubishi garages. i have statments from first owner saying he sold it back due to the gearbox problem, then on the test drive before i bought it i got told by the sales man that it is a chracteristic of the evo 10 the grinding and notching. bear in mind at this point i had no idea of the history or the previous customer. i then had a miltek exhausted fitted by mitsubishi on the day i picked it up.. they did first modification and charged it for me... they then told me 4 weeks after i complained AGAIN about gearbox that it needed a new gearbox but unfortunatly i have modified the car and the warranty does not apply.. so i sued them.. since then the information i have gathered from disclosure and research has opened my thoughts to others in the same boat.

ps excuse spellings its been a long day!!!

element x have you been dealing with anybody called sharon townsend?

Mate ,nearly everyone on this forum is from the other side of the Atlantic, there isnt many UK evo X's on here.

So have they voided the warranty because of the MILTEK exhaust??

have you done a check on the cars history to see if its been in an accident in its lifetime?

I cant see how after all these gear boxes there is a re-occurring problem? the stock gear box does give you a bit of grind sometimes when going in to gear on full throttle!! sometimes.

and i know most people drain out and never use the mitsi transmission fluid again. Upgrading to some decent fluids could sort out the notchy feeling and grinding.

I changed my clutch and it was better. The only reason i think its recently come back is im now running alot more power and i think its time for a better clutch.

It's not worth the stress man, i had an engine build at under 12k miles, cmc, 5 mafs etc...it's easier on the heart/health to fix it right and enjoy, you won't win against ccc, tossers of the highest order!
Good luck though :)

I'll text you tomorrow mate. I had a lot of trouble with colt, but in the end they gave in.

But Mitsi are right to a certain extent, the gear box isnt as slick as the old 5spd, form the evo 6,5,4 etc...It is notchy and does grind!! I would consider upgrading the CMC first before you waste loads in legal bills.

I would also consider taking it to TRL in UK or something???. I recently met the owner Matt, he will sort you out. Mitsi are crap and couldnt fix a car if their life depended on it. There are some good Mitsi workshops though, I would setup a new MLR account using a new email and PM Black Knight to see if he can help?

I'll text you tommorrow though.

merry xmas

Sounds like a mix of someone who never swapped transmission fluids, someone who can't drive right, someone who is borderline OCD about the feeling of the transmission, and someone who got screwed in some respect by the dealer. There are thousands of us on these forums with this same transmission, it's a known issue, let it break in, swap the transmission fluid, and be on your way.

If they swapped the tranny 3 times, my guess is, it's the owner not the tranny.

When I first got the car I was really pissed about the feel of the transmission. After about 8-10k miles it breaks in and it feels better. On top of that, if you put in some good transmission fluid, this will dramatically improve the feel of the transmission. I used to occasionally grind gears, now I get locked out and grind maybe once every few months.
