Ok guys I've come to the conclusion that it's time for a new car and I've been considering an Evo x. I'm selling my 2009 370z this week and need to decide on a new car quick..... I tend to get tired of cars pretty quickly (hate it) is the Evo something that gets boring quickly? I love to do tastefull mods (intakes/ headers/exhaust/turbo etc etc , from looking through some threads it seams the x responds to mods real well and that's important to me! Can some of you guys give me your quick reviews on the x (likes/dislikes), it would be greatly appreciated, I've had a modded wrx that made 290hp/301trq and loved the power/awd do you guys think this is the car for me?

If you loved your plain wrx, you'll probably think it was some weakass shit after just adding bolt ons with a tune on an x. If your looking for more luxury and sally paddle shifters the MR is what you are looking for but even still they are noisy cars. Good luck desiding the X is an amazing machine. She's my fire breathing dragon.

You won't be satisfied. You'll eventually save up and move on to something better. There's a butt-ton of better cars out there, but 99% of them cost a whole lot more.

The only one comparable in my honest opinion is the Mustang Boss 302, everything else is sub-par or much pricier. The GT500 is a superior car.

Not AWD, I know, but still awesome... check out the 5.0 or Boss 302 before making any decision. The GT500 is probably out of your price range, but if you could scrounge for change, check your sofa cushions, etc, then you'd be blown away (pun intended) by the GT500.

Why not just test drive one and find out? I never understand why people don't do that...

This car is not for everybody. It's got its fair share of problems, some of which suck. The only way to figure out if it's right for you is to drive one.

If you can be happy with the EVO like she comes is one thing, if your gonna drop another 10-15k$ in it because you can't leave it alone that's something to factor. 350 whp EVOs are more fun that 250 whp ones. It's cool having something unique, don't see a whole lot of EVOs. I wonder sometimes how happy I'd be with something else, my EVO puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, but it's a little on the coarse side. I think you've gotta be pretty enthused by performance to live with an EVO. Maybe you should look at preowned BMW M cars or AMG. I just can't go back to Detroit iron.

That looks sharp, nice Z!

Honestly, not everyone can (or just isn't willing to) spend the money for an M3 or a GT-R, even used ones, so the Evo X really hits that sweet spot of $35k where there's really nothing (aside from a Mustang, STi or perhaps a Z) that's relevant to certain buyers. It's way too much money for a Mitsubishi but at the same time there's practically nothing else like it in the price range.

Ya if you want cheap drag car I test drove a 5l Gt Cali Ed. It is fast and will take a stock X in a 1/4 mile. I also heard with basic bolt ons they run 12s
News flash, they lap a typical track faster than an Evo (stock for stock) so it's not a quarter mile thing, it's everything. Like I said, all around superior car to the Evo with few exceptions (not everyone prefers the looks, some would take AWD over RWD as an important factor and the Evo comes with 2 extra doors).

I realize you are comparing an Evo to Mustang in terms of options for the price, but these cars could not be more different. You have to have a philosophy when you buy, you can't just say price and lap time. People also always conveniently leave off how RWD cars might be faster than a given AWD car in terms of a fastest lap, but the AWD always lap more consistently.

An Evo X is way easier to drive fast than any Mustang. My Roush punishes me every time I try and lay down 450 tq at 2400rpm. It might be faster than an Evo in some strange, seat of your pants, balls to the wall time attack kind of way. But the X is so much more smooth and graceful, and it has never bit my head off.

In a 20 lap race the Evo X would own practically any RWD car out there, it's consistent nature gives me the kind of confidence only a pro driver can have.

no way on a mustang over an Evo X...try driving that thing in the rain and you won't ever want to step foot in that stang again...just go test drive both and specifically try giving it some gas around a sharp turn and then do the same in an Evo X and you will fall in love...the handling in this car is absolutely ridiculous and they are easy to get crazy power out of with a few mods...they are not made for straight line drag power though if that's what your looking for...
