Mitsubishi pulled the covers off the US-spec 2008 Lancer Evolution X, and the differences between your red, white, and blue steed and the one from its homeland are: the steering wheel is on the left, versions with the 6-speed SST auto 'box are called the MR (the 5-speed manual is the GSR), and the seat cushions are longer in order to fit longer American bodies.

The stripper RS model is not on offer here -- that's the one without a radio and power options. The differences between our GSR and the MR aren't many, but depending on your preferences they might not be minor. The standard GSR has a radio and power accessories, but does not come with a wing -- that would get added in the Sight, Sound, and Spoiler package, which throws in HID headlamps and a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate system. The optional package for the MR is the Technology Package, which adds goodies to the stereo system (like a subwoofer and hard drive), Bluetooth, navigation, and the Fast Key entry system.

When it comes to inner workings, the GS rides on 18-inch Enkeis. The MR gets 18-inch BBS forged alloys, as well as Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach springs, and 2-piece rotors. Voila. Lancer Evo X pricing according to one source will be around $30,000 for the GSR, and $36,000 for the MR. Follow the jump to read the full press release and options, and check out our live shots of the car's reveal in the gallery below. Video of the live introduction is also available after the jump.

They say SST is delayed until November, if so I really don't know.

$30K sounds good to me. Hopefully that's accurate.

So the US won't get SST until November? Wow. Hey, I'd rather they delayed it to death rather than release it half-ass.
I don't want to wait anymore :(

I was hoping it was delayed until spring.

BUT....

If the delay is because they are replacing the normal DSG with the borgwarner's NEW improved DSG, than I wouldn't mind

Here is the link...

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/13/borgwarner-builds-a-better-dsg/

These are high power output applications that would be hindered by BorgWarner's original DSG design without improvements. For these next generation systems the wet-clutch system has been changed to a moist-clutch system requiring less lubrication and therefore a smaller oil pump.....

The artical that says Nov. doesn't seem right since Mitsu is marketing the car for 08 and if it comes out in nov. 08 that makes it an 09. and there was/is a delay for the SST in Japan, maybe thats what it's talkin about...

*Fingers crossed for the MR in Canada for $45k cdn (or less, of course.)
That price is still F---ed up, man. If the GSR = US$30K and MR = US$36 then why would you be happy paying $9K more? The duty on Japanese made cars coming into Canada is 6.1% only, so a Canadian GSR should be around C$32K. But we know it will be much higher than that. Serves us stupid Canadians right for being such pushover weenies (me included).

I know these are just guesstimates, but this stuff sets me off!

Sadly, this is part of living in Canada :(

We can't even import it from US since it is not allowed by RIV.

That is correct. Our EVO X bumpers will be full of extra steel.

I think we should have real US pricing for the Evo X any minute now. Why? 'Cause the STI prices are out (which can be imported to Canada, AFAIK).

STI with VDC $34,995
STI with silver or gold BBS wheels and VDC $36,995
STI with Navigation, silver BBS wheels and VDC $38,785
+ $645 destination fee (Washington State)

I'm almost tempted to buy one of the last new 2007 Mazdaspeed6's in BC, can possibly buy for dealer invoice minus a $7,000 factory stackable rebate, or about $9,700 off MSRP (just under $28K before taxes). Makes it almost $6K cheaper than a WRX in Canada. Should I do this or wait and hope Mitsu Canada gives us sane pricing for the EVO? Or import an STI?

NOOOOO SOOPAH ANYTHING BUT MS6!

I know it looks great on paper, but i heard the AWD system is worthless! It is FWD most of the time and torque is only distributed when slippage is detected! It is a FWD based AWD system, which is not as good as full time awd and rwd based awd.

I also heard the clutch is left much to be desired.

If you are consider MS6, how about legacy?

what do you mena by "wait and hope Mitsu Canada gives us sane pricing for the EVO?"

Evo X is likely to sell really well because of high demand. So I don't think waiting is a good option.

I have read reviews how the 09 STI ride a lot like the legacy. If i were you, I will look into legacy, because it looks better than the STI.

If you think the STI looks good, then import the STI by all means, I would too if i like the design.

I appreciate your opinion. I guess I am going a little car crazy lately wondering what to get.

I heard the clutch issues were fixed in '07. And power loss issues are due to inadequate octane fuel.

By waiting I just mean waiting until we know the EVO pricing. The new '07 MS6's are almost all gone. I could go get one this weekend. In a week or two they probably won't be available as an option to me.

Hey, there are lot's of Mazda folks on this forum. Anyone with experience with the MS6? Good, bad, ugly?

Importing is only an option if I find a company to do it for me, then I'd lease it from them.

The Legacy is not to my liking and they are pricey in Canada. But I know the MS6 is closer to a Legacy GT than to either the EVO or STI.

$35K in US is for the base model STi, which is no heated anything.

Canada base STi has all the heated stuff. In the US, all heated-is only in Premium package, which is $2k. So your $35k usd just jumped to $37k usd. Add provincial sales tax and gst totalling 13% starting from Jan 1.

$37k * 6.1% duty * 13% gst/pst = $44.4k

A reputable authority tells the owner of the Toronto Subaru Club that the STi will be around $43K. So if he's right, * 13% = $48.6k

The difference $4.2K.

But the problem here is the financing. If you can get it from an equity credit line, the interest rate is prime - 6.25%
So that would be $864/mo or total $51,813

Subaru Canada could give a best case 2.9% (Not likely) rate for 5 years, that would be $871/mo and total - $52,267

In the end, with the $43K price in Canada and 2.9% - the difference is only $500.

If it wasn't for student loans, I'd go put a deposit on one right now!
