I read in one review that they put the SST in to super sports mode, held their foot on the brake, dialed the revs up to 5,000 and then let go of the brake...They didn't mention if that was the official launch control though.

thats pretty much what you do in the gtr... Turn the vdc off and everything else in "r" mode and then dial up the revs, hold you left foot onthe brake , right on throttle and then release the left peddle

More or less the same I'm guessing in the evo... I'm not much of a drag racer so it wouldn't be doing this much except maybe autox's

Wonder if the ralliart will have a launch mode or not, do the same and no revs holding I bet

GT-R is like dating a model. Even though you can probly get a sweet beautiful girl thats worth a lot more in moral/sentimental value, you still want to have that spicy model to tear it up with.

Holding your foot on the brakes? Could that do any damage more than just wearing out your brakes? I would Imagine not but I'm curious

The software is most likely preventing the clutch from engaging while the brakes are applied. There's no wear to the pads if the wheels aren't turning.

It doesn't sound like launch control in the true sense if you manually have to hold the accelerator down and keep the engine at a certain speed. True launch control allows you to fully depress the accelerator and electronically imposes an artificial rev limit for launch.
