So clutch in, floor it, release the clutch.

Do you smoothly release the clutch? or just let the restrictor pill do the work? And when you release quickly, your on the gas, does the RPM climb past 5,500rpm (because of the clutch switch?)
I launch between 5300 and 5500.
Push the clutch in and push the throttle to 5500. Then let the clutch out as fast as you can.

I like this thread... keep answering the mans questions cause i'm curious too. I mean, is that all that launching the car requires? flooring it and dropping the clutch.

what damage does this do?

Anybody have any guess as to how long the clutch will last on this car?

I'm assuming: 1) clutch in ; 2) Right foot hammered down ; 3)Let clutch go, quickly ; 4)Enjoy.

From my better track days, I've found better launching solutions using the above ^ method. It's utilizing factory launch control, and seemed to work fairly decently. I hadn't gotten any clutch smell what soever. One thing to avoid though is leaving your right foot hammered for too long (3-5 seconds) as the launch control may cut out and you'll bee seeing 7500 in no time. This happened to me when the tree controller decided to wait a while before engaging it at the strip.

I've also tried launching at 5400 and 5000 without launch control, and I saw crappy 2.2/2.3 60' times. So far, my best 60' in this car has been a 2.030 and ran a 13.3 @ 102. I know there's a little more to it then just 1/2/3, but I'm trying to work out the kinks.

PS: Step 1 should always be, "Pray your [email protected]#$ don't break."

I don't dump the clutch no, I do a smooth but quick release, and while this is happening I don't jump over 5500 until after the clutch has been fully released.
:+1:

I kind of recommend not dumping the clutch. This past Saturday I had a little practice session (if u will) on launching with various ways of launching from mid-high rpms to dumping and slipping. Found out that I had more of a 'knack' and was more launch-friendly at or around 5500 rpms. I'm in dire need of a EBC though. :(
