Hey all i am trying to tune my grimmspeed 3port ebc right now and i was just wondering what the mechanical limits of the stock evo x turbo is? I am getting about 25 psi till about 5500 rpms then it tapers down to 20-21 psi by redline. is that just the limit of the turbo?

Yes.

Crush your stock BOV or get a new one... try the crush first.

You can hit 30+ psi on stock turbo but it'll taper drastically from there. Typically you'll see 19psi at 7500rpm

Supposedly stock bov's leak. If you crush it then it won't. Either that or buy an aftermarket, but crushing it will warrant the same results. Aftermarket just looks cooler.

No, not at all. 17-19 at 7k+

Stock turbo can't push enough air. You need a bigger turbo to do that. Upgrading the BOV will just prevent it from leaking.

oh it does leak; at least mine did, really quite bad.

i never got around to retesting it crushed since i blew a hole in the test rig i put together when i was seeing if the hks i had would leak

hey i couldent read your gauge at what pressure did it start to leak at?

oh, sorry comments were on youtube itself
:08 pressure crosses 25psi and you can begin to hear it leak.
:15 pressure gets to 28psi and leak becomes very audible
:18 pressure increased to 30psi and it leaks really bad
:32 pressure reduced to 25psi leak decreases but still there
:40 had to drop pressure down to 20psi for the leak to stop completely


two points to take away from it; 1) stock bov leaks above ~25psi 2)it will continue to leak until you drop to ~20

so if you spike higher than 25 you'll be bleeding off pressure the whole way to redline making it even harder for the stock turbo to keep up
this was at sealevel ~75 deg iirc
