Posted this a while back on evom, got tired of linking back there so I brought it over here :innocent:

So I finally replaced that POS metra kit and put the JDM one in. Gotta say, well worth the extra $. I even called metra to find out wtf is wrong with their design and they claimed there was no issue and thats to be expected :freak:

Before:

After:

There are two options for this dash kit, one for the stock Navi and one for regular double Dins. Make sure you order the correct one when you do.

Yeep, for that exact reason.
wait, so we should order the one for the stock navi because its wider? or should we not order the one for the stock navi because the regular double din is wider?

Sorry for the confused noob question, but i want the widest one possible, i have plans to install a 7 inch android tablet (which is by default the screen size only and doesnt account for the bezel). thanks.

Stock navi one is wider, this JDM double din is the only one that has the universal size for aftermarket nav units. The OEM navi is not a normal screen size.
JDM Dash comes in two flavors, one for universal double din like Fankiago said, and one for the OEM Navi which is wider. If you go to order the JDM one just make sure you select the one for OEM Navi to get the bigger opening.

Brah, don't get the JDM one if you're just doing OEM navi size. That's just the same as our OEM navi piece.

You only get the JDM one and pay the big bucks and have it shipped from Japan because they don't have a double-din version available for the USDM.
The JDM Dash kit here isn't the same as the USDM piece.

IIRC they are right on par with each other with regards to cost so pick the one that looks better to you.

no this is incorrect the jdm piece for the oem nav is the SAME. the ONLY advantage to buying jdm is to get the one with the smaller opening which will fit all aftermarket double din stereos. with a trim ring of course. the opening is slightly larger than double din b/c for some reason all aftermarket double dins are not the same size. no worries though almost every double din ive ever bought came with a trim ring.

i have the jdm piece...brand new in the box if anyone wants one. $325+shipping.
