How does these compare to the OEM tires and/or Yokohama ADVAN Neova ADO8?

I'm looking for a tires that is equal to the OEM or better in term of dry grip and thread wear.

all i know is Lotus just ditched them tires on their new Elise/exige V6 they are developing cos they are not very good in the handling department.

There are better tires out there...

And not that it really matters, but it is the highest rated tire overall on tirerack.

Yeah I've read/heard nothing but good things about these tires and will be replacing my Advans with them. From what I've been told, though, treadwear ratings are manufacturer subjective so the 300TW on the Pilot SS may not be quite the same as on another set of 300TW. That being said, they are in a whole different class than the Advans and STILL have a higher treadwear. Cost is SLIGHTLY more but you get more for your money.

Some disclaimers: I've never tracked my car.

I'm running the Pilot Super Sports currently in OEM sizes, had them for about 11k miles. Under ideal conditions, meaning completely dry and even surface, the OEM tires felt like they had a better connection to the road. I think the difference comes from harder sidewalls. The Michelins are better in every other conceivable way, however. Add any sort of rain or dust/debris to the mix and the OEMs became more unpredictable, especially once the tread began to wear. Road noise is noticeably higher on the OEM Yokohamas as well. Tread life is significantly better on the Michelins. My OEMs were almost completely worn out after 10k miles and my Pilot Super Sports are still barely showing wear. To me, the difference in "ideal condition" grip wasn't worth the sacrifices in tread life, and I plan to stay with the Michelins in the future.

well. i got them after one of my OEM tire got a nail right near the side wall.

Compared to the OEM, they are definitely quieter and felt more comfortable. There is a quiet hum to it at high speed that I find a little strange, though. I've tried turning hard on them and they feel very predictable, and I have seen 2 bars on the S-AWC while turning but did not hear it squeak
I have too few miles on the OEM to be able to compare the turning ability. The OEM has more road noise and felt more attached to the ground, although that doesn't always translate into performance.

Our OEM tire is a 180 Tread Wear.... I would never put a 300 TW on my car. It might be ok for you guys that only drive to Sonic or The Avenue. There is a reason they put a sticky tire on our car from factory. Just Sayin...

i'm not sure how a 180 tread wear mean anything. PSS is 300 AA A while the advan is 180 A A. If you want to use the UTQG then wouldn't you put the PSS ahead of the A13C?

UTQG is almost theoretical, not a hard science. Either way, you need to read up on tires some more, you're getting hung up on a number you don't understand. Saying "I want crappily rated tires because they don't last long but super sticky for the first few thousand miles" is mind boggling to me.

Jazzberg they choose tires for a specific car because of a few things: nominal performance for cheap likely due to contracts between tire companies and car manufacturers (this ABSOLUTELY happens). They are not often the BEST choice for the car based on reality. Car companies go cheap on ALOT of things (take a look and listen around your car for proof...), including tires. Yes the Advan's are stupid expensive (for us), and they are fairly sticky (when new). The Pilot Super Sports cost less, perform better, and last longer. I fail to see the problem. The A13C is an older design...the Pilot SS are a new design.

I just got my set it from TR. I havent mounted them yet, but one observation that I compared right away, coming from the NT-05. The sidewalls are very easily pushed down, feels very soft. I still have my old NT-05's in my garage for comparison. The NT-05 feels a great deal stiffer on the sidewall than these. But I have faith in michelins and I'm sure they are going to be a better tire all around. Ill reserve any definitive review until they are mounted up and driven hard.

For street I'm sure these are fine, but since I Auto X, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Max Performance Summer tire. I've made that mistake and regretted it >.>. It's Star specs or RS3's for me or bust now a days

I'd be interested to see how these compare to NT05's.

Factor.. Like Mr. Mint ,I autocross my car. The tires I use to get to events double as my wets for racing. I have the RE-11 now and might try the RS-3's next. If you are running a 300 Treadwear tire at Autox you are not winning. So that number I know nothing about helps me win. Like I said in my post, if your just out Posing they are fine but I can't use them.

Bro, I get what your saying, i do. You have to realize that tread wear ratings are determined by the manufacture. Its not done by a third party that has no interest in the tires. Also, the tread wear rating does imply how much grip the tires are going to have, but in reality you can have really stick tires that have a higher tread wear rating. MPSS. Michelin has done its homework on these and the reviews speak for themselves. Im not sure you know what your talking about when you reference the tread wear rating as the only basis for the tires grip.:thumb up:

As we all know the star spec is a great tire for autocross, even so the MPSS was rated the highest traction AA, even higher then the Star specs. So do some research my friend and then make a markable contribution to this forum.
