Bulb Design

HP36: Full 360 degree illumination with 36 High-Power Samsung LEDs. Aluminum base for optimum heatsinking, and non-polar design for easy installation.

XP50: Each of the four sides of this bulb contains two 5W-rated chips, and the top is fitted with two more under a projector lens. Housed in an aluminum casing with textured finish for maximum heatsinking properties.

HP11: Four side-firing 1.5W-rated Osram LED chips, and one 5W-rated LED chip on top, which is projected by a lens for maximum effective brightness. The bulb is housed in a machined aluminum casing, which provides superior heat diffusion for long life.

XP80: Each of the four sides of this bulb contains three 5W-rated chips, and the top is fitted with four more under a projector lens. This is the brightest self-contained automotive LED bulb on the market, and is housed in an aluminum casing with a textured finish for maximum heatsinking properties.

Fitment.

(2004-2007 Model years) use a quality inject-molded 921 terminal, with a sturdy base connector and proper pin alignment, designed for exact replacement of your factory 921 bulb. You will not need resistors for backup lights. Just replace the factory bulb.

(2008-2016 Model years) use a quality inject-molded 7440 terminal, with a locking base connector and proper pin alignment, designed for exact replacement of your Evo's factory 7440 bulb.

Included in your order is TWO BULBS.


COLOR

These LEDs illuminate in a crisp, cool, bright, white hue for maximum light output.

BRIGHTNESS

Diode Dynamics offers several brightness options so you can choose what fits you best. These options are listed by the design and the lumen output of each bulb:

HP36: Slightly higher brightness than OEM bulbs.
XP50: Much brighter than OEM bulbs. These are bright!

HP11: Slightly higher brightness than OEM bulbs.
XP80: Much brighter than OEM bulbs. These are bright!

Lumens. BUYER BEWARE! Most sellers just provide "calculated" lumen numbers, based on the maximum potential brightness of the LED chips on the bulb. For example, if a bulb has five 10-lumen chips, they will rate it at 50 lumens. However, this is not accurate, as the design of an LED bulb does not get rid of heat fast enough to run the LEDs at maximum.

These "calculated" lumen ratings are much, much higher than the true, measured light output, so it will look like competitors' bulbs are brighter than ours. This is because Diode Dynamics does not provide inflated "calculated" numbers; we believe it is misleading. We test the actual brightness of the bulbs in our lab, to provide real lumen output measurements. Our measurements are accurate, but they are usually much lower than the misleading "calculated" figures.


QUALITY

LED Components. Diode Dynamics uses only the highest quality LED chips in the production of its bulbs. This means only brand-name suppliers such as Epistar, Cree, Osram, and Samsung.

While Diode Dynamics bulbs may look the same as others on the market, most copycat bulbs use economy-grade LED chips in order to reduce costs. This greatly reduces the reliability and overall brightness of the bulb when you compare it to Diode Dynamics.

Construction. Although LED technology allows for extremely long bulb life, the market is flooded with cheap LED bulbs that fail prematurely due to inferior construction. The worst enemy of LEDs is excessive heat, and when bulbs are not designed properly, they do not disperse heat as well, leading to premature failure.

Off-brand, cheap bulbs exhibit poor solder uniformity, high levels of flux in the solder, uneven chip placement, low-gauge terminal wires, poor assembly, and bulbs held together with inferior adhesives. At best, solder joints will crack and fail on low-quality LEDs after a few weeks of use. In the worst case, these bulbs can damage housings as the extra flux and adhesive evaporates and creates a residue on the lens of the housing.

Have u tried these on an evo?
We had an EvoX in for testing about a year ago to confirm fitment. In 2015, we will be bringing in another one for more studio comparison shots and new product development. Here's a comparison from our friends at Blood Type Racing:

From my experience LED does not work properly in our cars because they are computer controlled... Theystart to come on n off. They don't stay on. More than likely because of the resistance change. Could the ones u have be can bus cuz I haven't tried those.


Also if you all want a bright light stay away from the smd ones. Get Cree and one with the cob panels on the side... There awesome... For example the HP11

If anyone is curious, here's a comparison between the stock and SMD27, been running them for over a year now with no issues!

Is there another way other than wiring up resistors to stop the hyper blinking with LEDs in the EVO x?

Unfortunately the Evo X does not have a replaceable flasher module, so installing resistors is the only way to prevent hyperflashing.

It's a very simple procedure, but we can help you find a dealer closest to you if you prefer to have professional installation

Ok. That is kinda what i thought when i was looking up relays and their positions.
Just out of curiosity, how are your resistors different than like ones off of amazon for example?
I know that the resistors will get hot, but realistically when being used for turn signal bulbs, aren't they only getting current when activated. So would they really be getting that hot, unless you leave you turn signals on for like 5 minutes.

Our resistors are the common 6 ohm 50 watt resistors you'll find at any auto parts store. They do have a black housing and our name on them, but they operate the same as the ones you'll find on Amazon.

Basically, they will generate heat when the turn signal is in use. That's how you know electrical resistance is being generated in the circuit, and will prevent hyperflashing.

Our resistors are the common 6 ohm 50 watt resistors you'll find at any auto parts store. They do have a black housing and our name on them, but they operate the same as the ones you'll find on Amazon.

Basically, they will generate heat when the turn signal is in use. That's how you know electrical resistance is being generated in the circuit, and will prevent hyperflashing.

I have limo tint on rear windows and at night almost impossible to see out of rear window until I purchased Diode Dynamics (not to be confused with Evolution Dynamics) now backing up is much easier with these lights. Great price great product.
