Has anyone seen any hacks to bypass the nag screen on the in-dash navi unit? How about the in-motion video cut out?

Not that I plan to watch the Sopranos while I weave my way through morning traffic (then I couldn't hear the phone, right?), but my passengers might enjoy a DVD on a long trip, and I might install a camera someday.

Other in-motion cutouts used a hand brake sensor you could ground, but I doubt that's the case on my 08 Evo. It cuts out at a few MPH and plays with or without the brake. I guess the unit knows when you are moving; that's its job.

I think I am looking for some hidden configurations or a software hack.

Go to your navi and start it up, hold down SET + Navi and note the version number. If its 30.94 you're good to go for the DVD in motion hack. Otherwise you have to wait for the developer to finish with his hack for the other versions.

It works!

Found the update- I watched The Simpsons to and from the grocery store.. got some funny looks. The nag list is still up but I think they are working on that.

Anyway, if anyone else wants the mod:
  • download it here,
  • burn it to a CD-R (not a DVD)
  • With ignition on, stick it in your media slot like a music CD
  • Answer 'yes', wait a few minutes and the unit restarts, answer No
  • Knock yourself out- watching movies while driving can't be worse than cellphones and drinking
I have a 2008 Evo MR bought 4 days ago with DVD/Nav running Loader Ver BLD-NR-261UM and Application Version 30.94. The iso titled Outlander Update CD, NR261-UM, Software version Version 00.30.94, DVD in motion allowed worked for me the first time.

Hey Scooter,
Thanks for the reply...but what exactly is this?
Updates for the Navi and Music Server direct from Mitsu...

If that's not what you were looking for oops... I've heard you need the last update for the hack to work though...

Edit. Unless the version number they are mentioning is for the firmware that runs the computer... hmmm... Well check the updates and if you do the Mitsu update and then check your version number again you may get the correct one. If so, your good. If not your back where you started and have not lost anything.
