It looks like the guy that did the first patch has been hard at work on a GUI KWI editor that seems to work with our Loading.kwi. It looks promising but its beta and is read only currently. He's also got a KWI packer and unpacker, but it doesn't seem to work on our navi yet. After this is working, it would help get a step closer to hacking newer Navi versions ourselves.

Link to the unpacker at the bottom of the second page.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I am wondering for thoughts who are using this hack on their 2008 Evo X's, did it mess with your Nav? or does the Nav still work?

I have a 2008 MR and when it pushed the SET+NAV this is what I found:

Application: 00.39.99

Is there anyway I can update it or go back to the 00.39.94 version so I can use this hack?

unfortunately, you cannot downgrade the MMCS nav. I would wait to see if they come out with an off road patch for the newer 2010, they might be an earlier "application".

Until then, you're out of luck unless you find the correct patch for your model.

I read it was possible to downgrade. There is a member on evom trying to sell the service to all of us, but none of us are biting :). So I'm trying to figure it out myself.

I imaged my original NAV system drive before installing the "update". That makes it very easy to just dd the old image back to the hard drive.

I'm not aware of any way to "remove" the upgrade - it overwrites the map and executable files on the drive during the upgrade/installation. There is not enough room on the drive to store the old data files and NAV operating system files.

I may not be following you 100% since I haven't done this. But if you have the iso of the original .30.94 files, couldn't you just replace the system files with the ones off of that iso?

Essentially Yes.

There's multiple partitions on the drive (maps, NAV OS, music server indexes/titles, music server music files, button icons for the MMCS, ...) and the partition images for each section would need to be in sync.

Note that the 30.94 is only the version for the NAV files. There is also the CDDB database, etc. The music server and its associated functions are completely independent from the NAV system and the MMCA menus are a different system also.

All the images I have are of the whole [unlocked] drives. 40-80 GB in size so they're too large for most to move around on the Internet.

But I'm understanding correctly that you only need to upgrade the NAV part right? It sucks this hack only works on the dvd in motion part and not the AUX. AUX would be the most useful since we could hook up monitors / gauges up to it.
