I am new to the forums. I've been itching about getting another EVO since I got rid of my 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution 8. I miss the car so much.
I've been going back and forth between getting an 8 and getting a X. Weighing and pro's and the cons. Its been very difficult for me.
I sold my Evo 8 back in 2013 (worst decision ive ever made).
I was perfectly fine with the power that It had. The only problem I had is it was my daily driver. I was a lot younger bought at 22, sold at 28.. in my younger 20's I beat the crap out of it. Launching it everywhere, doing 4 wheel donuts, racing everything I could find.. . So It kept breaking. The last straw was the sunroof breaking on me lol.. I know sounds minimal but 15,000 dollars later in maint fees overall with the car it was time to part ways.
Here I am.. 36 years old... I have a full blown rock crawler jeep for the fun weekends. A g37s coupe (6mt) when I wanna keep it classy... And a 100 percent stock 1998 honda civic lx that i use exclusively to commute to and from work in. Its time to get back into the evo game.
My 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution 8 mods:
#1 precision gt35r turbo
#2 greddy 3 inch turbo back exhaust
#3 unk down pipe and unk test pipe
#4 hks 280 cams
#5 ebay special FMIC (clone of something but i dont remember)
#6 Turbo xs type-h rfl bov
#7 full race turbo manifold
#8 snow performance stage 2 methanol injection kit (with failsafe)
#9 rps twin disk carbon/carbon clutch
#10 arp head studs
#11 walbro 255l fuel pump (pos 7xx injectors)
Im sure im missing some things but i made 450hp and 350tq... numbers not high but the thing was super fast for me. I ran that setup for at least 4 years.
I know those are rookie numbers but remember this was a long time ago and e85 was not available.
Im looking for "at least" the same numbers in an EVO X
would prefer 500+hp and 400tq range if possible. I know tuning has gotten lot a better and e85 can cause all kinds of wonderful things to happen..
anything i should look into with the X? I'm an 8 specialist but im failry new with the x.
I've heard about the clutch master cylinder and the rear diff. little nick nacks here and there.. anything else i should look for? Am I getting ahead of myself thinking I can get those numbers on stock block? I'd like to stay away from digging too much into the engine but I will if i have to.
I have budged money for a new turbo kit, fueling system to go e85, exhaust , tune etc.. These cars are so easy to make fast.
Anyways.. I hope to hear from you guys. Would love your insight. please no "use search function messages back lol"
