So Rexpeed has a new CW-Style Hood Scoop coming, and I got the first piece. Thought I'd share.
Unpacking the hood scoop
I was going to post a how-to thread, but it's pretty straight-forward. As much as others like to hate on Taiwan based Rexpeed, the quality was great and no imperfections or flaws were found.
After the hood scoop is popped, I noticed two things.
1. The rexpeed installs slightly differently, with screws/washers going up into the scoop, rather than nuts and 2 bastard plastic clips holding the scoop down on the OEM scoop. This actually made install EASIER. Definitely a plus
2. This was a big one - the scoop actually has a fully built tunnel throughout. I was actually surprised that Rexpeed was smart enough to make a FULL scoop, not just an aesthetic add-on. Great job.
Here you can see the direct flow into the engine bay - notice the easily viewable strut bar
Installed: the fitment was great. Rexpeed fitment has always been good, if not great, on small CF pieces such as this. I'll never understand the bias'ed hate towards Rexpeed. The value is unbeatable - sorry I can't justify $350+ on a JDM hood scoop. If you're seriously bothered by .01mm of fitment, then go pay the premium to satisfy yourself, because nobody else will tell the difference.
I have never been happy with any of the hood scoop options but the CW style - it's the only one that matches the cars lines well imo. I strongly disliked the Type-1 that Rexpeed already offers, as it just looks like a gaping hole in the hood without a real aero look. I'm 100% satisfied - I got the look I wanted at great value. Would easily buy again!
Why no full pics of it with the car? Well I'm working on my dash project - here's a teaser:
Will update more pics soon :shades:
