I keep reading where I need to get my transmission oil changes at 1000 miles.. but I've hear where I should use the stock oil for longer. Any advice for a noob at 1200 miles? :D

Generally the early oil changes are recommended to remove any metal shavings from break in. I never heard of doing the tranny that early, only engine.

For what its worth I swapped out the stock fluids to Motul (ACD, Rear Diff, an Tranny) at 15k. Owners manual suggest 30k for that service.

Id get your motor oil changed first and formost, then worry about the tranny stuff if you want to later down the road.

Why did the dealer do the ACD, REar Diff for me at 15k then?
I had cobb do my SST trans fluid at 10k as a safety. It didnt call for it until 30k.

the regular interval for the trans and diffs is 30k. severe is 15k.

i do oil every 3k and the drivetrain every 15k since i do drive it hard and what not.

alot of people like to change out the factory fill fluids early to remove any break in material and like to know everything is properly filled.

The manual recomends 3k on engine oil. There is no way the dealer would let you claim you can follow anything but severe schedule with this car.
Does it? IDK but I could have sworn it said 5k was acceptable but there was no way I was going to risk that.

?? No idea, mitsu dealers are retarded for the most part anyway :p I had driven from San Deigo to Boston (in 4 days) shortly after getting the car so I wanted to fresh'n things up.

My brother in law was telling me when I did my oil change that every 3k for an oil change may be early. He claims that the new synthetics are able to go another 1 or 2k. So would doing it every 4k be fine?

The manual recommends 3k oil changes in "severe" conditions. If you're tracking your car or beat on it constantly, yes, change at 3k.

Otherwise, the manual recommends 5k oil changes.

I dont drive too hard yet because the X is my first manual car. I'm 100% better then I was when I first got it. So Im guessing 4k should be fine with me.
How is Royal Purple? Thats the brand I just put in my car

One thing I loved about doing my oil change. My brother in law works for a construction company that has a garage.
Full inspection pit... it was so much easier then laying on my back haha

Not what the warranty manual says. If you care at all :) it deals with slow commuting, temp, environment etc Not only "how hard you beat on it".

..Cause stock exhaust sounds like a retarded wheezing squirrel.
Hahahaha thats first :p

Yah there is one loop hole but its currently occupied by Mitsu. I forget how it was worded but they are on top of things.

Why don't you hit up South Coast for service? They were pretty dam cool about mods when I bought my car there. Had a AEM intake/DP/CBE put on before I picked the car up :D Just buy things through them and have them do the work.
