So I'm relatively new but i'm on here just about every day checking the forums. So I wanted some advice. I'm about to deploy and plan on putting back about 3 grand for upgrades when I get back. Unfortunately where I am at, everything has to be ordered by mai,l and there are no tuners near me. Currently I have a straight stock 2008 evo x mr. My initial plans were to buy parts from AMS:

FMIC
UIC
Performance Intake
Catback
High Flow Cat
Then a cobb access port and buy a tune from AMS. This would put me at around 3grand maybe a tad bit over. I was just curious what anybody else would recommend instead.

If you read through the Tuning forum section (and its two sub-forums), you might consider getting your bolt-ons, a wideband O2 and boost gauge, and then doing a remote tune with one of the guys here. It will be a custom tune which is pretty much always going to be better than a canned one, and it will be specific to your mods, goals, and environment. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about not having a local shop and yet you'd be able to get a custom tune.

Have a safe deployment!

Thank you for the help, i'll go back through that link. I've already installed a boost gauge but did not have plans to put in the air-fuel ratio gauge until i actually installed the new exhaust. Going through somebody on the forum for the tune sounds like a good idea as long as they have plenty of good comments and know what they are doing.

Thank you.
