Plasti Dip Paint for my Wheels

7524 Views 22 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  ZeroCooll21
I recently painted my stock wheels using PLasti Dip, this is a black rubber substance in a spray can that peels right off. It actually looks pretty good and has lasted about a week so far. I just thought I would post this picture for everyone to see.

Thanks

i like it, now lower that rally fart!
Plasti dip the lugs too lol, just paint over them with it mounted it will be fine and blend.
how many coats did you do?
I used 3/4 of a can per wheel. It's been a month and the plastidip is still holding strong.
Thats a lot of plasti-dip to use on each wheel.

Should hold up for a long time.

Yea, I will do that the next time I paint them.

That is.. if she makes you food.

bettter pix?
i just did mine. let me say those cans never run out. got 4 cans total and used only 3. it applys to the wheel in an odd way. like it seperated and had a hammered look but after a few min it layed itself flat. came out amazing.
i posted a photo in the vanity photo post section if anyones interested. im also going to do the alum gas cap. but keep the lugs on the wheels and bolts on the gas cap chrome to kinda match the window trim.
i just over sprayed onto the tire and after 2 days it falls off and doesnt mess with the seal around the rim.

@phillyevox, idk if clear would adhere well to the plasti dip it would be like clear coating electric tape. and it would still be flat black. this stuff stays rubbery. doest solidify like paint. it also doesnt run or drip like paint so spray the shit outa them rims. haha

EDIT* my bad that photo in the vanity section is with the evo9 BBS's on. heres a photo of them plasti dipped on my car.

I seen guys clear coat them after the plasti dip was fully dry on YouTube. When installing your lug nuts did you have any complications? I heard some ppl say when tightening their lugs up it caused the plasti dip to twist and tear in the lug holes. Would I need to tape the bottom of the holes?
i put the wheels back on very slowly when the paint was slightly wet id say 2 hours after the last spray. i could see tht happen when dry, with the way the lugs are tapered. gotta play around enough to get them to set properly. but if you take your time when its slightly wet and slowly put all the lugs in, should work good.
i did mine kinda half assed and its been holding, just taped off the TPMS.
Yeah im just going to tape off somehow to avoid any damage.
probably a good idea to pull the tape from the wheel while slightly wet too. im really impressed with the stuff. check out youtube for videos of guys who do their whole roof. haha. comes off easily. makes you wanna plasti dip everything. like an adults playdough. haha
The guy from dipmycar.com has a vid on youtube where he plasti dipped an entire audi from white to black. The roof is a good idea hmmm now you got me thinking.
