All the dealerships around my area are claiming that they are not going to get more than one or two.. I may not get one right away either if they are gonna pull the same crap as they did with the GT500 mainly marking it up like 15K or so.

Deare liars...

In car sales we had a saying "buyers are liars" but it is more true of dealers than buyers. Maybe they say only one or two to heighten the sense of urgency, or maybe it is true. Maybe you live in Saskatoon.

The Vancouver dealer said they could get around 6-7 or maybe more. Can't believe anyone. They called me and said, "you're up first, it'll be a manual [he said 6spd], so pick a colour!"

Still no hard specs on Canadian version or even what it will be called (no X for the US).

Well, I know Southside Mitsu in Edmonton is the highest volume Mitsu dealer in Canada, and I was told they were getting 5-7. I am in a small market and the dealer here says they are only getting one FOR NOW. Not sure what tranny to get!?!?!?!

I was told that I am the 20th on the list, god I hope he is just bullsh*ting me so I would put down the deposit, because there is no way I am getting mine on the first shipment.

Overall I think we all need to take a step back and say that we need to see the final specifications, prices, etc. for Canada. Dealers are still saying 6 spd manual which everything we read says this is wrong, that it will be 5 spd manual. We don't know the packages or standard equipment coming to Canada, we don't know the colours available in Canada. Too many unknowns. And if the base price is US$32,000 I will not be wanting to drop $40K+ just cause I live north of the 49th parallel. Currently the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar. Two things need to happen, one, the US price needs to increase (these cars are made in Japan so the devaluation of the US$ necesitates a higher price) and the Canadian price needs to decrease. They should not be making any more profit on a Canadian EVO X than on a US EVO MR (or whatever they are calling them). Yes, our markets are different, US being much larger, more important to build/maintain market share for Mitsubishi, and the ol' supply/demand/price relationship is at play here, but they cannot keep hosing up like they have for the past few years!

Here is a call for price parity with the US!!!

General consensus - If you're going to do mild mods, get the SST (if you don't mind spending the extra $). If you're going to mod if heavily, go 5MT.

If you want to save a little dough and put it into performance upgrades then go for the manual.

How do these two transmission options compare with respect to drag times? With a manual you can rev it up and pop the clutch. With the SST you've got to sit there waiting for the light then slam the pedal. Which will result in faster 1/4 mile times?
