ok the Evo I am about to buy has that key less start that I think it is awesome.the bad is that it comes with just that one.The only place to order another is the dealership I should assume. anybody knows price for that thing??

Hey I have an extra key from when I wrecked my Evo, I was told that I could reprogram it to another if I ever got another. I just need the dealer to do it, if you want I can give you a deal on my extra if you want. Double check with the dealer though.

I believe they are on the upper end of $300.00 closer 4. I asked the sales guy when i purchased my car and he said they where close to $400.00 but did not look it up.

yes you can have them reprogrammed to any other evo with the fab. delaership has to do it. somehow both of mine got deprogrammed and they did it in bout 10 minutes.


edit: jus realized you didnt specify this as the fast key entry. if this is what you are referring to then yea dealership can reprogram one to another in no time.

I'm pretty sure if you have a functioning key it's only like $200ish for a new one. if you lose both keys then the price jumps significantly.

I just bought an 08 Evo GSR, and I've been seeing a lot of them with this little blue/black cap that covers the ingition key hole, that you can turn instead of inserting the key to start the car. Is this the OEM "fast entry key" you guys are referring to? If so, what are the security fail-safes for it? I assume Mitsubishi designed to prevent someone from just busting my window and not needing a key to drive off with my car. Is this fast key feature disabled if the alarm is armed?

Unless you have the Fast Key in the car the ignition switch is locked just like a switch that requires a key.

It's def not blue.. but as above you can't even move the ignition unless it detects that the key is in the car

I thought it looked darkish blue, but after having googled it, it is indeed black/gray. So the fob you carry to unlock the car has a transmitter that the knob over the ignition keyhole will detect before the car will start?

Sorry if i'm asking questions already in the forum, but I searched and found nothing. Please link if there's a thread I don't know about.

$195 from my dealership if I remember right, but its just the regular key without keyless start, just doors, trunk, and alarm.

Most of the they program it to the new fob.But i think there are many issues with the system when you have a new key fob because due to reprogramming they don't work properly and show you errors.
