I've searched threads on here and I still would like to know your opinion before I order a full cage. What is the best roll cage for track days and testing? I have no problem stripping the interior but I don't want to modify the dash. Any help would be appreciated. It's safety before engine mods for me.

I am having a shop make one after my motor build and i am doing a roll bar and back cage and side front bars ones that run low at the side of ur seat so i dont have to cut the dash. Need then since cf doors arent the safest thing.

talk to the guys at forged. im not sure if they're the guys to fabricate a cage, but they'll know who to talk to in your neck of the woods. i haven't seen a mass produced cage for the X that i'm a big fan of.

if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and wouldn't mind learning how to use a pipe bender, notcher, and do some welding, talk to the guys at Freeside Atlanta. They do a lot of custom fab work, including 2 delorians, and are working on their own Lemons car (a studabaker!) Good peoples :)

edit: nvm... just saw the 'ordered today' part ;)

depends on what organization you going to be with. some require different things than others as far as cages are concerned.

I know you've made your purchase, but for anybody else still looking, for an entire cage, its best to deal with a local shop. Way more convenient than dealing with a local welder and a remote supplier.

Also, did you see this thread I had created a few weeks back?

http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56587

This setup is SCCA legal and is pretty good at what it offers. A safe roll proof setup that allows to properly mount a harness system and other goodies like fire extinguisher/camera etc without making it extremely hard to get in/out of the car. With a full cage, even your drivers seat becomes hard to get into unless you are really thin and small.

I did alot of research before I bought the roll bar. You don't want a full cage if you plan to ever drive your car on the road again. You'll have to wear a helmet all the time. I didn't want to mess w/ the dash , air bags , seats, etc either. Don at AutoPower builds Bonneville Salt Flats Cars , etc and he knows his stuff. I got my roll bar in raw steel as I will be having it powder coated white. I'm going to also modify the roll bar as you will see when I get started. Thanks for all of the help. This forum rocks!

I just left mine black (Default from autopower) since the cops don't exactly approve of such cars on the road here. With my tint, its pretty invisible from the outside.

I bought a roll bar not a cage and there's a big difference. I'll be adding some extra support also but nothing near the windshield or where my head will be. I'll be adding some new restraint belts too. My goal is to just track the car some and not race it. I'll have roll over protection , side impact protection , upgraded belts and still taking advantage of all of the air bags from the factory.
