For those with (or without) the SSS package, can you comment on the sound deadening in relation to the sound system? (Specifically at highway speeds)

The general consensus is the Rockford Fosgate sound system is pretty decent, but that means nothing if you can't hear it going 80 on the freeway (a problem I have in my 06 STI with a $1000 sound system).

Obviously it won't be like driving a 3 series, but I have heard Mitsu added quite a bit of sound deadening for the X. Still I have read other reports, such as in C/D, where they mention "outside noise/sound bouncing around in the cabin". Can people (perhaps with some audio knowledge) comment?

I have a 2008 Lancer GTS but I didn't get the Rockford deal cause I already have two twelves from my last car, I don't really remember without them but with em all I can hear is my sound system going 80+

I have a X with the SSS pacakge. You definatly have to turn the stereo up at speed. Cruising at 60-70 on the freeway, i need to turn it up to around 25-30, which is just enough for me to hear lyrics or talk radio. But there is plently more sound volume pass that if you like your music loud. If you lay on the gas, pass 4500 rpm, and the engine really gets going, then you might really need some more volume.

Damn cool it son, don't wanna end up as a story on a forum about a guy who died in his Evo for speeding.
I'm not being incredibly unsafe about it. The post that I'm on (us army) has some very very long tank trails that are straight and very wide and of track quality as well as range roads that are the same quality. They are closed to everyone at night, except if there is a unit movement, however I am able to get on them and know who is going to be on them because I'm military police.
