this weekend I'm getting my sounds system put in. pretty excited, seeing as how i was very un-impressed with the stock speakers my GSR came with.
gonna be installing a pioneer deck, alpine type R sub with rockford fosgate amp, and some nice kenwood speakers for all 4 doors. can't wait to see what the new dash kit is gonna look like installed as well. looks pretty cool in my hands, but i guess ill see once its in there.

so, not sure if theres a lot of evo x owners out there that are into car audio, but if there are id love to hear what your rockin with

make sure that whatever sub/box setup youre doing weighs less than 75#. any more weight than that added to the rear will make the car handle and corner funny.

im rockin a jl 8w7. it sounds like a subwoofer twice its size. 500/1 amp, eclipse components f/r and a pioneer p4300 dvd head unit.

I used to be all into stereo systems. Had one in my first car that won me three sound off trophies. 2 12" MA Audio Competition Subs, 1k watt amp, Kenwood head unit, and a capacitor. Ahh the fun times. I had to line the cd player with foam cause the subs would hit so hard the cd would skip lol.

pics?

I was wondering whether anyone did anything with Evos or not as well. Not really necessary, but I like a little more than the stock system has to offer. Not to mention I'm not a fan of Rockford. In my dime I have a Pioneer AVH3200 double DIN, mid-class pioneer speakers, 2 JL 12w0's and an infinity amp. It's all fairly cheap stuff except the head unit, but it's in an ext cab pickup so it hits right behind the seat haha. I'm not an audio comp guy I just like a little moar loud than most stock systems

I forgot to mention I had tweets set up on the pillars and all the stock speakers replaced with MA speakers. I wish I had pics but I wouldn't know where to look for any lol. This was my car I had when I was 16 and 17. It was ALL RICED OUT lol. Good ol show days lol.

Nice man, next week I'm also going to look at audio parts, thinking type R shallow mount, but let me know how you like yours!
if you go alpine...cmon its type x all the way. 1 10 would be more than enough. shit im running an 8 and it goes hammers and cheese all over the car. you have to think too a lot of shit in our cars rattles so if you go with a larger/more powerful subwoofer you might as well buy a dynamat whole car kit

Depends on what you want. some 8's hit really nice, but if you want shallow in particular in won't be enough. and Def Type X. R's hit harder, but X's sound so much nicer

shallow...jl 13.5 tw5 is the ONLY way to go. it fits in a .8 cu. ft. box.

thats uber tiny. ive heard one in a display at an audio shop it sounded very good for being a shallow mount.

and as for type rs or xs there is no comparison. the type x is a completely different class subwoofer. type rs are for people with civics and the sort. they are a mid-entry level woofer.

yeah, i got the 10inch one, and found a build it yourself box at best buy that fits it perfectly. also getting a kill switch for when i just want to hear the RPMs or for when i have a headache lol. ill put up pics when i get it installed for ya.

i also built a false bottom for the trunk on top of the cover for the spare tire, so i can screw in my amp/cap to it, and be able to remove it when i need to get at the battery, or when i want to take it out weight distribution.

Kill switch for the subs or the sound in general? because there is a mute button... lol if it's the sub then most amps now have a port that you can plug a remote bass controller into

I had 2 JL W7s in my RSX. Blew one of them (still sitting in my attic) and just ran one but it was more than enough. The top of the cone dry rotted from the sun beaming down on it for so long so I took everything out. I plan on putting something in the Evo too, just not sure what I want yet

lol yeah, along with the pause button? but no, its a kill switch that I'm gonna mount on the roof of that little cubby. its gonna be attached to the sub so when i flip it it disconnects the signal from the head unit to the woofer.
