SRS/Airbag Fault(s) - HELP

I’ve been chasing SRS/Airbag light since I got my hands on my X.

I had a TON of codes. clock spring - angle sensor - occupant sensor - g sensors etc.

I’ve been trial and error fixing with the cheapest options, avoiding that SRS module replacement.

I’m down to the last two issues, which are making me think the SRS module is shot. Since I was throwing a bunch of G- sensor codes mainly, I changed the main g sensor thinking it was a centralized issue. That didn’t do anything so I started replacing the impact sensors since the faults were LH FRONT RH FRONT LH SIDE RH SIDE G-Sensor codes.

Put in front impact sensors - the front codes cleared.

Last codes I’m throwing are:

B1B72 - Side LH G Sensor Fail
B1B75 - Side RH G Sensor Fail
U0172 - Side LH G Sensor Communication Fail
U0175 - Side RH G Sensor Communication Fail

I replaced the side impact sensors. But the codes remain. AllData says to check the wiring. If unplug the sensor, the “Sensor Fail” code disappears but the communication sensor remains (obviously)

Is the next step to change the SRSmodule?

I just don’t want to buy an $800 module and it doesn’t fix it.

See if you can get your hands on a scanner that will read live data from the airbag module.

It's not likely that both side's G Sensors would fail at random, plus starting with ALL the airbag codes at first points to an issue with the module. I'd check the module power and ground to start though just to make sure you have a good ground and voltage is correct.

So story behind the car is it’s from a guy who has a bunch of them. Sort of a take what’s good out of each and put it into the best shell - flip it.

I had a ton of faults that I’ve 1 by 1 cleared but this is what is lingering.
I had the same faults for the front ones but new sensors cleared those out.

Any chance it was a flood car? It's a CAN bus communication issue, a sensor issue, or the SRS module. You can check the wiring continuity between the sensor and the module and you can replace the modules as you've done. Maybe you can find someone parting a lancer out nearby and snag a module on the cheap?

Doesn’t flag as a flood. But ya my next thing was to change the module. Wasn’t sure if I could get a used because I know in some instances, some manufactures code the SRS module to the vin.
There are plenty of used ones out there.
Yeah, you have to send it out to an SRS specialist to reset/recode it if it's used but it can be done. I've seen other evo guys use a place like this outfit:

But there are lots of companies that claim to be able to repair/rest them?
Did you check the connections at the module itself for continuity? Maybe a bad ground somewhere? Alldata and identifix are both pointing towards module I'm afraid

If you in Idaho Nampa area, or San Diego, or Sacramento area, i know places that could fix all your codes...208-606-0905 Artur
