I just bought an SST Evo X. Compared to my GTI, the WOT shift up of DSG is better than SST (no drop in RPM), but the SST has an engine blip mode on the Sport and S-Sport.
Overall smoothness of both tranny on normal mode is almost the same, but I feel a little wet clutch slip in SST in below 1500rpm to get it on the line smoothly. (there is no slip in DSG causing it to vibrate a little on take off, like you are de cluthing too low RPM in manual tranny.
This slip make SST more comfortable taking of the line, but loose a few tenth. I test my X with Works air filter upgrade (300HP) with my friend's modded GTI , chip, echaust, K&N, BOV (260HP) on standing start, no brake torquing. He launch faster than me, than I passed him on the second gear upwards.
I've not use the S-Sport mode yet, the Sport is pretty aggressive.

I too have my SST, but it's strictly stock right now, so I'm very interested to hear about your mods (before and after comparison would be great)... particularly as pp have been saying it will go into "safe mode" even with a new filter.

It leans the A/F from Stock 9.9 to 10.5 which is still very rich. The ECU will not throw CEL unless it goes to over lean >12 which can destroy your engine.

The sunroof is cool, too bad we can't get that option here in the US.

There is no safe mode for the evo ..
There is a upper limit for transmission durability but you won't reach it unless you abuse the crap out of the gearbox and change turbo ..
