Hi

So I lost my key this morning. Just the normaly key with key less entry (FOB)

I did try to get a spare a while back, dealer was way to much, so I got one on Ebay. Got it cut, tryed to get it programmed at the dealer and they couldn`t do it. They said there are two part numbers on the keys and I have the wrong one. So this morning I was able to use that key to unlock the car to check for the good one, no luck. But it won`t start the car cause it`s not programmed.

Co-worker had a idea of buying a lancer key at the junk yard and just swaping the chip in my but key, then I could get it programmed. But I still need to get the car towed to the dealer. Is there any easy/quick way around this to get the car to start for a couple days?

Anyway to bypass the chip with Evo scan?

Really need help ASAP

I hate to say it...

BUT sounds like you're gonna have to bite the bullet and pay dealer price for a new key and associated programming.

I know but right now I don`t have one, and the dealer probably doesn`t have a key in stock. So i`m looking for a way around it for now. I will get a key, would just like to have the car sooner then two weeks

Have you placed a call to the dealership to see if they have the key in stock?

No not yet, still trying to find a way to not have to miss work to get the car towed to the dealer to get a 260$ key with 60$ for programming.

I`m going to keep looking and hope I just find the key, since it doesn`t look like i`m getting much help on here except people telling me to just trow money out the window.

The reason you're being told this is because anything else would amount to circumventing the anti-theft system, which is not exactly information that's always used for legitimate purposes. You could always see about having it towed there and if the dealership can get a replacement key programmed without you actually showing up until it's time to pick up the car. Will probably require you to enclose identifying info with the car and maybe provide a credit card authorization ahead of time. That way you don't have to take a day off work and stuff.

Yeah the alarm did go off when I unlocked the door with teh key that is not programmed, but if you put the key in the ignition and turn it, the alarm goes off. even without the chip key, it just won`t start.

I did end up finding the key last night after turning the house upside down. But it still would have been nice to get info. I`ll get a proper spare key.

Glad you found the key, saved yourself a bundle and a real headache. BUT, you need to realize that you're not going to get information on defeating the anti-theft system on a public forum.

Did a little checking around, so basicly you have a key that you leave in the ignition, and use it normaly to turn the car on and off, and the smart key stays in your pocket, when you walk to the car, or away from it the doors automaticly lock and unlock?

Not automatically, there's a button on the handle you can push that locks your doors, you just grab the handle to unlock. Car won't start without the key, but it sounds like you don't have that option.
