Sticking a tablet in the dash

Would it be possible to stick an Android tablet in the dash in the place of the MMCS to take care of the audio and navigation? The MMCS looks extremely lame to me, especially the navigation, incomparable to what Android offers. What size can go in the same spot and how would I connect the audio from the tablet to the car system? I don't care about the radio, settings and CDs, with a tablet I can use USB 2 Go to connect a 1TB 2.5" external drive with ease.

There is a kit to add a post were the MMCS goes. the post goes in the dash kit with an adapter that goes on to the pack of the IPad. you just run your aux cable to the connection in the dash.http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-20004029-48.html
For any 2011 or 2012 owners, you can "broadcast" the music/sounds from a tablet over Bluetooth since the FUSE system enables audio over BT. No audio wires to fiddle with, just a charging cable.
if i did it to my evo i would use a 7 inch tablet. a 10 inch tablet is just too big for this dash.

i would find a double din dash kit and fiberglass in a tablet dock connector into it that way i could remove the screen. i would try to keep the existing radio behind the screen and use the steering wheel controls to control the audio/source/etc.

maybe one day i'll do it to this car. here is my last car with a samsung galaxy tab 10.1" installed in dash before paint:
watching ESPN:

the fiberglassed dock connector:

That's basically a stand. I mean mounting a tablet inside the dash, where the MMCS would go. And no iPad, aside from me hating iOS, it would be way too big and shiny.

That is not the point. The biggest reason for using a tablet is navigation; for music there are lots of little streaming devices, via bluetooth or FM radio. There's far more to a tablet in a dash than music.

Yeah, I was thinking of the Galaxy Tab 7" Plus or something similar (with 3G of course).

The idea is to get it inside the dash completely, with just the screen visible (not even the tablet bezel). That way it doesn't look weird is held solidly, won't ever come off.

I understand that, it wasn't related to your post, it was just an FYI post for everyone.
