I know for sure in the 2012's they have a mic in the front center of the car, not sure for other years before it but it does have the SS package. I am wondering has anyone replaced their headunit, with something else that still takes that mic as input successfully?

I don't think this can be done easily, but there might be a way - I just don't know how. I installed a separate mic for my Kenwood deck. Just mounted it on the windshield right below the headliner and above the rear view mirror. It's barely noticeable in that location and works perfect.

Well, I am guessing the stock mic does not use a standard 3.5mm jack then? I am trying to plug it into an Avic double din but it does come with its own mic..so may go with that if I have to.

No the stock mic does not use a standard 3.5 mm jack. I did however run mine to the same spot and used that spot to conceal it.
