So...my car is getting difficult to start in the last couple of days...checked my battery, it's only putting out 35x CCA, slow charged it for 4 hours yesterday, brought it up to 40x CCA....today again difficult to start after sitting outside for 9 hours at work....

Anyone here have any luck getting a new battery from the dealer under warranty??

Read the forums, seems like people down in the states are getting optima red tops out of dealers for free....

08 MR with 33k km, still under the 3 years from orginal purchase date...located in Edmonton BTW.

Thanks

This is a known problem with cars sitting too long on lots and in transport. Dealer will most likely replace with Optima Red Top.

I just recently got a red top for warranty. They only paid for half of it cause it was over the warranty time. I'm located on Vancouver Island and our dealer sucks so you might have better luck getting a full warranty.

Damn that is expensive, any reason why u would get that kind

Well....average batteries are going for anywhere between $90-120 depends on where u go....and their average life in alberta is about 4-5 years....

Done some research on the red top, lots of people say they last over 10 years !!! so with double the money, double the life, which sounds about right to me...also it has 720 CCA vs the average 400-500 CCA gives me more confidence in the winter when it's -30c...

it also comes with 3 years full replacement warranty and 120 months pro-rated warranty....normal batteries normally comes with 2 years full replacement, and between 3rd and 5th year is pro-rated, so i am almost getting double the warranty

now you can rally your car and not worry about destroying your battery behind your seats!

Optima batteries went down the drain ever since they moved manufacturing from USA to Mexico...

Anything to support your claim?

Just curious really as id be hard pressed to see a serious manufacturer let a product quality drop due to a change in manufacturing location.

Just curious about which one on the island you hate so much? Because Shawn from Victoria has always taken care of me.

It's true. I used to work at a Batteries Plus, so we sold quite a few while I was there. When manufacturing switched to Mexico we noticed way more coming back for warranty exchanges than before, so there's definitely a quality difference there.

Not only that but if you ever kill your red top completely, it will never be the same again unless you get an industrial charger to slowly charge it back up again... I worked a short while in a performance shop here in town and we had this issue with a few of the Red/Yellow tops and that was what OPTIMA told us had to be done if they ever were completely drained.
