tactrix issue

So i did a search and found many threads and tried everything suggested in the threads but no luck. I connect my tactrix to my laptop to try and read a DTC and it says "tactrix cannot connect, blah blah blah, disconnect usb and retry"

I tried deleting the file suggested. Cant figure out how to put it in compatibility mode that another thread suggested. Tried reinstalling it and moving the files....nothing. How the fuck does this crap work?

that gave me a chuckle
was the openport plugged into your computer when you installed EcuFlash?
this... you should uninstall everything and start from scratch.

You should always get in the practice of installing software/drivers first before plugging in the hardware. Sometimes it messes up the install process. In fact, some installers even tell you to leave the hardware unplugged and then will prompt you to plug it in. I don't remember having any issues with the install but I am a techno weenie so that probably explains it.
I was trying to use evoscan, not ecu flash...but ill give that a try....again....
hmmm.... i never used evoscan to read dtc's. I used my cobb ap to read them and used the cobb to clear them or ecuflash to clear them.

I actually had to have mine plugged in while it was installing, or it wouldnt install the drivers for the openport properly
k, i got evoscan to work and read the code i have... P34BO any idea whats that. Also ecuflash keeps coming up with an error upon reinstall.
I never had luck in the past scanning OBD codes from ecuflash/evoscan, but I haven't tried it in awhile.
Nevermind, i got it to work....everything is working good now. I have no idea what was wrong with either program, i reinstalled them 3 times and it finally worked. Thanks guys.

Try installing Evoscan v2.8 (you can have both versions installed at the same time) and read the code again. I was getting P0420 every few days cuz I was messing with my 02 spacer and mivec tables... anyway Evoscan v2.9 came out and when I read the code it gave me a different code - one that doesn't even exist - kind of like the one you said above. Seems like its a bug in v2.9 and I reported it to the developer.

Which version of v2.9?
i had no problem reading my code through evoscan. glad you got it worked out

you ever figure out what the code was?
P0102 i think it was...something to do with the MAF sensor but in fact it was overboost, i spiked at 30psi and the engine light and AYC light came on and told me to service it.
Which version of v2.9?
I'm currently on v2.9.0019 and the last time I read the code it still gave me a funky code that doesn't exist. The previous versions did that as well - still have to have v2.8.0005 installed so I can see what the code really is. Hamish said it may have something to do with "fast filtering" that he added in v2.9.
I have the latest 2.9.0019 EvoScan and only so far this is what I have observed from my testing on the DTC reading & clearing.

SST DTC - Read: OK, Clear: OK
EFI DTC - Read: OK mostly, Clear: Not OK
AYC DTC - Read: OK, Clear: Not OK
new problme, hopefully someone can help me out. My laptop was starting to shit the bed so i bought a new one today with windows 7 on it. Updated Windows and installed some stuff. I tried to plug in the tactrix to install the drivers but it comes up with an error saying "Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed" It works fine on my other laptop with Vista...is there a issue with Win7?
