I think my tcase is going out? I really hope not but it's the only thing I can think of. I took a video of it and will post it below. It literally JUST started to happen last night!! It only happens when I really lay hard into the throttle! In the vid, I was in second gear and you can hear the type of whine noise somewhere, which I believe is my tcase. Now, the only thing I put in it when I changed my clutch was Mobile 1 Full Synthetic Gear Oil 75/90. I was looking for an actual Transfer Case oil but that was all I could find at the time. Could that be the cause of it??

Vid was taken with my phone last night so footage SUCKS!!!!!! But the noise is clear as day toward the end of it. Again, is it the oil that may have done this?

Usually the T-Case makes a more linear whine that starts out low and gets higher pitched, I wouldn't buy anything until you drain and look at the fluid. Mobil gear oil is fine, it basically needs just gear oil.

Thank you!! Probably the most uplifting thing I've heard so far.lol It literally just started last night though. So I might be seeing early signs of it or something. Anyway, I'll get fresh gear oil as soon as I can and see how that works for it.

What makes a transfer case go out? Is there anything you can do to avoid it or can it happen to anyone?

I wish I knew. I barely EVER launch my Evo and I know I baby it. I may do a few passes on the on ramp but other than a simple day of Auto X, I really haven't done anything to cause it to act up.

I had that same noise, i heard it about five times.
Then i drained the Tcase fluid, replaced with diaqueen. And i havent heard it since thats 4 months ago. you might off not filled it enough.
I'm seriously starting to wonder that!!!! I was a little limited on gear oils at the time so this may be Ten-ten* (name of my Evo..yea yea I know.lol) finally getting a little irritated with me. The sound isn't even there unless I get on it, but it is starting to get a little more noticable while driving. I believe one of the Mitsu stealerships in town have some Diaqueen available. Thanks for the info Ranger!
