just finished swapping out my one piece downpipe with hiflow cat. now im running a one piece downpipe with resonated testpipe. sounds much deeper and a tad bit louder. so it was a 15 minute drive from the buddy's shop back to my house and the backfire i notice is wicked loud.
and when i half throttle it around 3500rpm to about 5500rpm , i felt as if the pull was more pronounce and a bit more agressive.
what else should i expect from having this installed?
Lol not gonna lie - sometimes on those empty highways at like 1am ill completely shut off my lights then downshift a few times and ill see a small little flash in my mirrors:rock:
i heard backfire that sounded like pure sex but i was in front of my buddy's truck and i kept a close eye on it to see if there was a flash or not. so far nothing....which i think is good lol
anything else i should expect from running a testpipe?
- havent smelled anything and if i did it soo faint.
- i wont get pulled over cuz im a very conservative driver
- waiting for a flame. heard backfires but not yet a flame.
- i have an MR so no true revmatch like a GSR can
Do you have the dp and res tp with the stock exhaust? Thats what i currently have and the only time i backfired is when i was at the track and i kept fitting fuel cut up from fuel starvation. Also i never noticed a sound difference at all since the stock mufflers were still there.
Unlike the flames..The black cloud is hard to miss behind you. I've had people think my car was on fire or just that it stinks real bad when u drop a cloud in front of someone lmao.
sometimes i see it too. but damn after driving around with the test pipe, the backfire sounds sexy.
somtimes quiet backfire. other times its a fierce bang lol
not sure. i didnt just have a catback. i did downpipe with hilfow cat and catback at the same time and always hear backfires. now im running a resonated testpipe and the backfire is more lol
dont you still want you car to register overboost? arent people popping engines from overboost and creep? Wouldnt a true tune be able to address these issues?
See thats what I thought, Im new to evo's. But my understanding was that when the testpipe is swaped its necessary to get a tune. Seems like playing with fire.
Not tuned yet...put almost 10000kms this past summer with test pipe and all my bolt ons. The cel comes on once in a while but goes away within the next day. I only get the code for the 02 censor and it's stuck right in there like normal.
Not recommending it but I've had
No problems lol if Iived close to ams I wouldn't be in this dilemma of picking a place in Toronto...hmph gonna suck it up in April and prob just go to magnusmotorsports

yea its hard to refrain. just get a good tune and boost away! when I had my test pipe on I went WOT twice and overboost twice... Never did it again until I got tuned
I see you've had this for a couple of months now. I have the same exhaust setup you had before and am thinking about getting this testpipe/downpipe. How are you liking it?
Im confused? Is a resonated test pipe the same as a HFC?
