Now there are tons of threads of all the amazing things the car can do. What I would like to hear is If there is one thing you could change about your EVO X what would it be? (Not counting mods and more power thats a given) More like what is your one complaint about the car(Like the Paint Chip Issue). Since alot of the people here actually own an EVO I figure everyone has alteast one annoyance. Im not trying to start an EVO bashing thread. Im about to buy one im just curious what owners have to say

I think this is a great idea!

And I have a perfect example of what you are looking for. Been meaning to post about this for a while but didn't know what venue to post it in:

The fn'ing turn signal. I hate when people leave their blinkers on, but this car is a lot worse then any other car I've driven, even the Lancer GTS. What I mean is that on semi shallow left/right turns it does not "catch" and turn off when you straighten the wheel! And it fails on turns that you would normally expect it to turn off automatically, so all of a sudden a few blocks later you go to change lanes and realize your blinker is on.

However, while it would help if the blinkers made more noise so I could hear it, I hate the "tick" blinkers make and love how quite it is on this car! Also, I love the 3-blink feature for changing lanes where you just flick the knob up or down and it blinks 3 times. Problem with this is I find myself doing it when I drive other cars and then realize I never turned the blinker on after I'm mid lane-change.

So, I wish the "catch" mechanisim in the steering wheel was better so it turned the blinker off rather then have you drive around looking like a moron. It probably has to do with the amazing steering on the Evo though, since I didn't have any problems with my lancer GTS.

The stock stereo system is a little blah...
speakers are not loud even at high volumne levels
there is no median to the bass levels, there's either to much or to little.

Overall the sound system can use a re-boot.

Even with the sound package.

Thats the exactly the kinda stuff Im wanting to know. Its good to hear that your only gripe is the turn signal.

lol at the turn signal issue. I've left mine on a couple times myself. Now I'm constatnly checking to see if one has been left on.

My biggest gripe is the seat doesn't have an elevation adjustment. I'm 5'8" and can't see the hood even if the seat is upright and set far forward. Luckily there is a solution though. A member here ended up removing the seat and placing spacers on the screws. I have yet to do this, but will be looking to very soon.

I actually don't get shocked when I get out which is weird cause I valet park and I usually shock everyone when they hand me money after I pull their car up.

Anyway I hate the sun visors and I wish they offered a boost gauge kit stock. I also wish there wasn't such a big gap between the wheel and fender. With the body kit it's already low so lowering it would make it scrape everywhere around where I live.

I've noticed this as well. My best guess is that they used the same hardware from the standard lancer, which has a "looser" steering rack ratio. That would require the wheel to turn more in order to cancel the signal for you, since our steering ratio is tighter.

There are plenty of things I don't like about my X...the weight, the quality of the interior plastics, and the fact that the interior cloth loves to hold dirt. Oh, and the floor mats could be a lot nicer too. Maybe I'll try to find some rubberish mats?

I'm going to have to agree with the sun visors and blind spots. The side mirrors also seem to fog up/ get dirty alot easier then on my last car. I find them hard to see out of sometimes.

Anyway, as to the blind spot, it is HORRIBLE in this car, but is not a problem if you allign your mirrors properly. The point of the side mirrors is to see to the sides, not behind you. I now have the mirrors pointed way farther out from how I use to allign my mirrors. I used to allign it so I would barely see down the side of the car; but the problem with this is then your side mirrors are showing you the same thing that your rear-view mirrors are.

Anyway, trust me that you should all do this, and while it is extremely hard to get used to and to learn to trust, it will pretty much eliminate your blind spot which will prevent you from causing an accident:

Here is the goal: you want the side mirrors to show the gap between where you can see a vehicle to your back left/right in the rear-view mirror and to when you can see them peripherally out the corner of your eye when you look at your left/right side mirror. A simple way to adjust this would be to pull up next to a parked car in a parking lot so you are about 5ft or so to their left/right, simulating being next to a car on a multi-lane road.

Now pull forward untill you see the rear end of that car in your rear-view mirror. Make sure you sit how you normally do while driving! now, if you are at all like me and aim your side mirrors down the side of your car, then you will clearly see the car in your side view mirror at this point. However, at this point all you really need to see is the front end of that car. so adjust your mirror "outward" untill you pretty much only see the front end of that car.

Now back up, and as you back up (simulating that car passing you) you should be able to clearly see that car in your side-mirror. Then as soon as the car starts to "leave" sight in the side mirror, you should start to see the front end with your peripheral vision. You'll probably have to adjust the mirrors even farther outward to achieve this.

But basically, the point is that now there is no blind spot, or as minimal as possible. The hard part is that when you are first driving with the mirrors aimed far out like this when you look in them you have no "point of reference" to know where exactly they are aimed. However, if you don't re-adjust them and continue to use them aimed like this, eventually you will realize that you don't have a blind spot and that if you see a car in that mirror then that car is next to you!

But anyway, this gets rid of blind spots and is the safest way to allign your mirrors. If you get used to it you will love it. But as mentioned the blind spot in this car is horrendous if you aim the mirrors down along the side of the car. But there really is not point to aiming them along the side of the car cause all it shows you is what your rear-view mirror shows you.

Sorry if that was wordy

All this input is awsome

This is all great info guys. I can deal with Horrible blind spots my s60r is horrible. I cant see anything out of it, which is funny cause volvo is suppose to be so safe. Now the bad sun visor thing does suck bad. Here Oklahoma City it is so dam flat the sun is always in your face in the morning and in the evening.

For me the biggest issue is the non-telescoping steering wheel. I'm about 5'11'' and in order to have my legs at a comfortable distance, i have to stretch just a bit to hold the steering wheel. The proper seating position would place the steering wheel on the wrist of my out-stretched arm but as is its just a bit too far.

Here's hoping i've just "missed" the telescoping button, but i dont think so.

Here's hoping someone comes up with a way to correct this!
