Top 10 Cars to See at the Chicago Auto Show

Whether you're heading to the Chicago Auto Show and want to know what to check out, or your trip is a bit more virtual, AutoGuide editors have compiled a list of the must-sees at this year's event.

Head into McCormick Place and hang a left. You can't miss the all-new 2012 Porsche 911. It might not be a world premiere, or even a North American debut, but the beautifully blue Carrera S is a piece of art. Four inches longer than the outgoing model it's more substantial and a much sleeker design.

Powered by a 400 hp 3.8-liter flat-six engine the Carrera S can hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds when paired with Porsche's PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the optional Sport Chrono Package. It'll also lap the Nurburgring as fast as the previous generation GT3!

We just got our first batch of the 2012 911's and after driving it for the afternoon I couldn't get the smile off my face... Not sure how they did it but they made it feel better than the previous model. Can't wait till the turbo version arrives :)
So a shitty 90s mustang and wierd korean car get the top 2 spots? The show must have really sucked.

I kind of like that cadillac convertible. Reminds me of some old school sinister roadster.
I love how Porsche never changes its style
Sadly, I don't see anything that attracts my attension in that 10 car line up... Why are they all so boring?

now what did get my attension... below..

The Elantra GT disipointed me the most... as i used to own a 2003 Elantra GT package 2. over the 6 years that i owned the car i bagged the heck out of it.. i drove it just like i drive my evo.. except the evo has the performance.. Aside from that.. the Elantra GT for the $ in my opinion was the absolute best out there in 2001-2004.. in nearly stock form (K&N air filter) @ 1150m above sea level i ran 15.8 @88mph.
over the years i installed a cold air intake that dipped the air filter in the fender well. Underdrive pully, as well as fedenza fly wheel after a clutch replacement, custom exhaust with removing the second cat. i installed a v6 tibby rear swaybar as well as front and rear swaybar bushings, Twm shifter kit incl under hood bushings. The car handled amazingly for the $ My buddy had a Civic SIR and it would barely pull on me from 0-100km/hr from 100+ the 2L in the elantra had more torque and would easily pass his sir. then he got a Rsx-s and he'd cane me from 0-100 but still in the upper speeds id always stay right there.

Elantra xd.com always talked about wanting a factory Elantra GT 2L turbo.. some even when to the point of putting evo parts under the hood.. if you guys didn't know the Block of the Hyundai 1996-1998 or so 1.8 and 2L power plant is a copy of the 6g63 block with hyundai head, as Pre GEMA info shareing of 2005 started. Once in production 2005 Hyundai Mitsu and chrysler have an engine plant together. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Engine_Manufacturing_Alliance, this link is for the new engine types. but it's well known that through the life of hyundai they've always depended on other companys to get their product out.. back in the pony days they were using mitsu engines/transmissions as well as ford cortina transmissions as stated in this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Pony
Back when the Hyundai elantra was a 1.8l they actually used a Tubular header 4-2-1 set up.. the Flange for the evo 7 actually bolts up to the 1.8L/2L hyundai engine with a slight mod. (one of the bolt holes needs to be slightly moved) here's a link of the pictures from gen2 tibbys and xd elantra's http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157103
with the evo turbo manifolds installed and compared.

after that ramble... i'll have to say that i really enjoyed owning my elantra gt. will i buy another? probbaly not.. but if hyundai came out with a cool cheap 20k or under elantra with a rear hatch with a 2L T i'd be right inline to test drive it..

elantra highway 790km 48L i made it 865km from calgary to penticton + driving around for a day in penticton on a tank. when i filled up .. it was caughing on the last possible fumes as i pulled up to the pump.
evo highway 400ish 45L, i find when the evo gets low on gas it runs crappy.. i think the fuel pump could be positioned better in the tank. or maybe some bafles like in the volvo v70R with a double pumper.

Wow. What an absolutely boring top 10 list.
Wow. What an absolutely boring top 10 list.
:yeahthat:

A street Porsche that can outperform the previous gen GT3, and it isn't on top of the list? Seriously? I don't think the writer has any idea what that actually means - the GT3 is amazing!

Oh, and if you want to see #2 on the list, you can come and see my SVO, Ford's first attempt at a real performance car from the 80's. Parking is free, cost to get in to my garage is two heinekens, and while you're here you can help me install new injectors in it. I even have a spare bedroom for you if two heinekens turn into 20 or more.

Or, just go to any junkyard, anywhere in America. They are full of fox body mustangs.
i actually think thats a good list other then the acura and mustang

dodge dart concept >
I'm surprised the 2013 GT500 didn't make the list being that it has supposedly 650 hp @ 6000 rpms, which mean it's probably well over 700 hp at 7000 rpms.

Number 1 is retarded. I'm guessing the editor must have been a liberal female...then again the mustang wouldn't have made it.

I think a 2 year old monkey could've put together a better list than that.
