i thought it was more entertaining than most of the stupid UK episodes that lack reviews, like the one in Vietnam, the one in Iraq, the one in Bolivia, and especially the the awful one in India. Only exception I can think of the America episode, which was pretty damned funny.... one of the best. In the latest episode they only reviewed a Vauxhall Corsa and a Fiat Panda.... wtf is the crap? May was well review a Smart Two. Before that, they just made fun of Chinese knockoff cars for an hour with like 5 mins of nothing about the AMG SLS that they already covered, but this one is a convertible =/ In the 1st episode this season, the 'review' wasn't a review at all, and all 3 cars they used they already used in previous episodes, put in a situation they've done at least a couple times before with other cars: drive them around old towns in italy doing pointless tasks

point is, i think people tend to compare every single episode of all car shows to the BEST of top gear uk. But the fact is, the ***average*** top gear UK episode isn't much better, especially over the past 2-3 years. I mean, they have about 150 episodes now, and most of them aren't all that good, let alone great

The man speaks the truth!
The last 2 or 3 seasons of TGUK have been awful!
It's far too scripted now. And the problem is that none of the presenters can act so having them "act" out a scripted show simply dose not work!

I agree on the last UK seasons being not that good, but the first episode of season 18 was leaked online and it looks wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than it has been. More like topgear 4 years ago.

Yeah this Yeats first episode was awesome! The trip through italy was very cool and well put together. But last week and this weeks episodes were back to the same old shit again. :(

Honestly, Top Gear America is just bad. The show tries to mimic Top Gear UK too much and as long as it does it will NEVER be as good..ever. They need to find their own chemistry and take the show in their own direction. Literally COPYING episodes from Top Gear UK is down right outrageous. Seriously. A trucker episode where they put a grill in the back of the truck and it catches on fire? They couldn't do, I don't know, anything else? I only watched about 10 minutes of the end of the first episode, but blatantly copying Top Gear UK makes it painful to watch for those of us who actually follow Top Gear UK.

The worst part though, honestly, isn't something they can control, but their voices are just AWFUL. They really need at least 1 person on there with a voice that is a true radio or TV voice.

It's true, Top Gear UK is staged and it gets old because of it. They are also beginning to run out of ideas, but no matter what they have great chemistry, they are genuinely funny, and Clarkson's reviews are always a pleasure to watch.

just watched ep4 of the new top gear UK. Again, no actual car reviews. They attempted to review the fisker karma, but got as far as saying that it doesn't contain any animal by products before they ended up reviewing a 1940's Bentley instead and dicking around with Brian Johnson from ACDC. Then they went to review a Ferrari FF, but decided to make the 'review' pointless by conducting it on a frozen lake in Sweden. Why bother? Then the majority of the show was spent reviewing.... off-road wheelchairs. For about an hour. Wheelchairs. Seriously.

Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining! But its far from the epic hard core car show that people act like it is.

As I point this out, I'm preparing to be hugely disappointing by top gear USA kissing Ford's ass by not saying anything bad about the Mustang, while also avoiding saying anything bad about Chevy by not making it compete against the Camero. Thats what happens when the show has commercial breaks that start with 'brought to you by...'
