So, I am running on my stock wheels right now, and they dont have the TPMS modules installed since they are sitting in my other wheels at the shop. Good news is the light isnt blinking at me, or in any other way, notifying me that I am missing them. I have driven about 15 miles like this so far, and no warnings of any kind. This leads me to one of two conclusions.

1 - The car automatically knows the sensors are gone and disables the system
2 - Someone hid a TPMS thing somewhere in my car and I dont know about it

ok maybe 3 things

3 - It will come on eventually

Anyone else played with this?

would be nice if they disable since i would like to have 1 set of summer and 1 set of winter tires without attaching 2 sets of 4 TPM and having the computer realize which set of 4 are actually on the car, without bleeping errors

The TPMS sensor is basically the valve stem. They are spendy to replace too, making it a PITA to manage. Day 2 and no blinking lights, or warnings. I hooked up my scan tool last night, and it said the ECU wasnt complaining about any inoperative system. Maybe the damn technology doesnt even work ;)

If you havent done anything to your TPMS system, the light WILL come on.

When I go to the track, it takes a good 20 minutes (or 2 cycles of the car being on and off) before my lights lights up.

When I put my daily driver wheels back on with the TPMS sensors, the light dissapears within minutes....

Hiding the sensors inside the car will not work Im afraid. I drove around for a couple of days with my daily driver wheels (with the TPMS sensors installed in them) in my back seat. All four and the light never went away. I think the sensors have to be within a particular proximity to each wheel well.

Mine finally came on. Took three days, which is appropriate since it was my 3rd guess hehe. Its not very irritating though.

It starts off taking the whole screen, but you simply push the INFO button for a couple of seconds, and it turns into the ! in the triangle.

So how have others got away with after market wheels? have they re-installed it into the valve stem of the new wheels?

I'm in the same boat! I got rims ready to go on tomorrow. These same rims were on my car I traded in and when I went to pick up the TPMS today, 2 were broken! Apparently happens often. Anyway, I am just going to leave the evo TPMS in the stocks for winter and I would love a way to disable the system or turn off the warning light. There has to be a way!

Dealership told me: you can have 5 sensors at a time (4 wheels and spare) only, you can't turn off the system (at least not without some workaround I don't know about), they will charge you $80 per sensor at the dealer but you can buy aftermarket cheaper. You can get a set of sensors for each set of wheels but only the dealer can link up the car and sensors each time you change sets, I think he said around $50 for that. And in my opinion turning off the warning every time you start your car is VERY annoying. Also, it comes back on anytime traction control kicks in or any other warning pops up (like the cold weather warning) and you have to depress info again for 3 seconds.

So I just got my new wheels today and am debating getting the TPMSs for them. Are they really worth it to those of you that have them in your aftermarket wheels? Did any of you that have aftermarket wheels choose to have the TPMS from the stock wheels put in your aftermarket wheels? Looking for some feedback ASAP PLEASE!!!

I also think the TPMS warning is annoying as hell. First, the whole info screen lights up orange, warning that service is required. You hold the info button down and the info screen is back to normal, with the ! in a triangle on the top right. Then there's another little orange warning light on the dash that flashes for a few seconds, and remains solid after that.

If you get out of the car, with the car running, the whole screen will light up orange and you have to press the button again. Annoying? Yes. Worth spending $200+ on? I don't think so.
