Unbelievable!!! This intake system seriously delivers what they claim. I was skeptical on the horsepower claims, but I'm not anymore. The car sounds WAY better and you can DEFINATELY feel a difference. This is the best $150.00 bucks I have ever spent, hands down.

what are the horse power claims? I assume you havent dynoed it yet?

Ok,

I'm confused. Its advertised as being a cold air intake but yet its got a cone filter in the engine bay. Also aren't you worried about water getting sucked in and hydroshocking your engine?
(i see the pipe going down for the cold air intake, I'm just curious as to the setup with the cone filter)

Actually it calls it a SRI on one page and a CAI on another.... which is it?

Either way, with any open cone filter, you want to add a sock (or whatever they call those gray things that go around air filters that absorb water, but don't hinder the intake).

Keep your socks on your feet.

GUYS, THINK ABOUT THIS.... How much moisture is going to make it into your motor, when it travels through a hot turbo (ambient teperature in excess of 200 degrees C) approx 6' of intercooler piping, and an intercooler. I'll tell you, NOT MUCH.

This thread was started to inform everyone of my satisfaction with a product. There is no chance of "hydrolocking" your motor with this product, and you do not need a sock for the air filter.

I had one of those 'socks' (K&N calls them Drychargers) on my old RSX and they did restrict the air flow more than you would want. Every spring I took it off and felt like I gained 5 hp...

I'm really interested in getting the UR SRI (and mybe the dual catback, once I can get comfortable that it won't be too loud..). Was wondering whether you had any other mods other than the UR SRI? What I'm concerned about is whether I need a custom tune after I install it and regardless of whether I get a tune whether it will cause any problems (ie does it throw any codes for instance). From what I've been able to learn from the other threads, it sounds like you either get a custom tune after the SRI or just use stock tune (?) (but do not use with an off the shelf tune as this will lean it out too much.. assuming the off the shelf was created for the stock parts). If that is correct, i'd prefer to just slap it on and not get a tune. This is my daily driver so my main concern is reliability... what i really want is the sound and a little hp would be most welcome as well!

A short ram or just a cone filter where the stock air box sits will not cause hydralocking... How much water do you think you are getting into your engine bay up top? pretty much next to nothing...trust me I have had many cars with TRUE cold air intakes that sit in front of one of the front tires in the fender liner and have never once had an engine hydralock on me. And we get some pretty big flooding this time of year.
Our Z06 with the lingenfelter Twin Turbo kit has two holes in the front of the bumper that have ducts leading right to each of the filters and we have never had a problem even while driving in the rain which is pretty much directing water right to the filters..

Any way on to the UR MAF pipe, isnt it the same idea as the INJEN or the AMS intakes? just they are full intakes rather than just a straight pipe?

Your's wouldn't have a problem, but wouldn't a cai which possibly sucked up water have the turbine f'd up? It being hot and then water hitting it? Just wondering. There has to be some flaw in it or everyone would run the cai.

I think you all worry to much about a CAI sucking up water. I have had at least 6 cars with CAI intakes and never had a problem. I even had an old Integra and would intentionally run through big puddles and never had a problem.

You have to be in some SERIOUS water to hydrolock an engine. For example I had buddy with prelude who fell asleep at the wheel. He woke up as he ran off the road into a lake, yes a lake. The entire front of his car was submerged/stalled and only when her tried to reverse out he hydrolocked his engine.

Water has a long way to travel before it gets into your engine. Even IF some does make it there it's not going to be significant enough to hydrolock it from normal driving.

i went from a sri like this back to stock air box with k&n drop in..

reason? my friend dynoed his evo x with a 4inch long intake pipe bolted to an k&n cone filter and lost 17whp from his stock base.. he then put the stock air box back on with a k&n drop in and dynoed +21whp from his base.. and then he proceeded to get his tune and pill

the dyno was done with hood closed and two fans blowing from front..

but the moral of the story here is that sri that sit in the engine bay like this does not give gains.. instead you lose whp.. just like the thread on evom.net where they dynoed the cone filters and lost 20+ whp..

if you like the sound of a vacuum and psshhh more power to you but it gives the illusion of power not true power..

ill see if i can get him to post his dyno sheets here.. and i'm interested to see the dyno for this sri.. 150 bucks for a cone and a piece of pipe you can get at autozone for 10 bucks seems kind of steep.. given they moved the maf.. i can't see how that can give any gains
