False. UK television seasons are just shorter and often shows air two seasons in about a year, sometimes with a little more or less time in between each season.They (Top Gear UK) used to have 20 episode seasons, but I think their budget shrank and their decision to put more money per episode led to having such short seasons.
You can see how it used to be. Nowadays, the seasons are about 3 episodes shorter, but the budget for cars and stunts has really gone up, too. When TopGear first aired, it was kind of shitty, like the US version. But, when they revamped it in '02, it got noticeably better each season, though I think it's leveled out a bit.
