hello everyone, new to this forum but I'm on almost all other evo ones. heres a little about me i sold my gts for a evo viii. that was fun while it lasted (blown trans). so i sold the evo and picked up a rallishart. things fun just a little weak. enough about me heres my idea... i want to do a evo x intercooler evox LICP evo x blow off ams boost pill and ams custom tune. i think this will be more than enough power and still keep it super reliable. probably more reliable than stock IMHO, but nothing too serious just incase my SST breaks i can easily put it back to stock. until then i was thinking about doing just a boost pill and the gst base map. any people doing this now? how do you like it? oh almost forgot only mod i have is UR Muffler. I'm gonna make it a catback soon.

Frank, if you're after reliability/longevity while keeping warranty, do the intercooler, piping, and bpv upgrades and skip the boost pill and tune. I was talking with the district rep from Mitsubishi (not a dealership, the one that actually makes the call for warranty) and he personally told me that mild bolt-ons, especially stock parts directly from an EvoX will not ever void your warranty, but as soon as you start messing with the tune they start negating warranty if your failure is engine/performance related.

whats up kyle! okay that sounds good, but i can run a full exhaust, intercooler, and bpv without needing a tune?

I'd like to follow in Pounder's steps. Really badly. But I hear nothing but horror stories on ralliart forums about fucked tranny's once just about anything is done to it.

Granted, I understand there's a risk for modifying anything, but this is my daily driver. I could care less about the warranty at this point (although bolt on's are easy to cover up..) But should I really be this scared to touch the thing?

It's such a turd right now.. :( Any thoughts?

But how reliable is even that? From what i've been told, just a tune by itself with no upgrades is enough to break it.

I get what you're saying. And I pretty much argued that it made no sense that at LEAST stock evo x wouldn't work. But I'd much prefer to have success stories as proof as well as testimonials from owners of the actual car.

Frank: I hear ya. You have no idea how bad I want to do even that. Ballin' on a budget is no fun. Who's willing to rob a bank with me. :D

macho as the old saying goes... you gotta pay to play. Yes the Ralliart & Evo platforms have had issues in the past with tranmissions & engines blowing up and can still happen from time to time. The tuning of these cars have advanced greatly since 2008 when the cars were first introduced with sst transmission and much knowledge has been gained in the last few years as well.

It is still a very smart idea to keep your WTQ under 400 ft lbs even 350 if you really want to stay safe but there are Evo X MR's and RA's running well over 400 WHP now and still going strong.

I can only speak from direct experience and know of 1 Evo MR that is doing 420WHP+ and has over 70,000km of mileage on it. That to me is a very good sign. Yes he says that he is having clutch slipping issues and is running and FP green but please refer to my first sentence... you will experience more wear and tear the more you mod your car.

My #1 biggest tip that you MUST listen to is ... make sure you don't cheap out on tuning and use someone very reputable in the Evo world. I highly recommend Clipse3gt. He knows his stuff, takes his time, and isn't just in it for the money. He isn't satisfied until he knows your car has been taken care of like his own. Like i mentioned to you elsewhere... feel free to pm me or email me about the RA platform. I've made the decisions, good and bad and try and keep on top of all the new developments of the RA platform.

Cheers,

Cody
