I'm looking to increase air intake what do you guys think about this direct replacement vs. going with a cone?

Has anyone already upgraded with a noticable difference?

I have mine on order it will be here early next week.I will let you know how the new one feels compared to the stock but from what I have heard is that it makes a big diffrence.
did you go with the Works?
I use works, and I can feel the additional power , also there is no more stutter in high RPM (stock A/F is very rich, Works leans it a bit)
I have the Works filter. I picked up 1.5 more MPG and the turbo is definitely more audible. I can't say that I can necessarily feel a power increase however.
thanks, I'm ordering mine today.
I got one a few weeks ago. It's helped with the high rpm hesitation issue, and I can definitely hear the turbo and BOV. My butt doesn't really feel much of a difference power-wise however.

I would say it's worth it if you are restricted to only a drop-in filter...

I have both, just tried a $20.00 Cone filter I picked up at auto part store.
I install and tried it out, it is a big improvement over the works, which is better than OEM. With the Works at WOT, the turbo needed more air, I could feel and hear it. with the Cone better response through the whole power band,
I was able to run right up to 130 mph in 4th gear, and this is a $20.00 filter.
so i am looking to get cold air setup with a K & N filter. here are some pics.

I tried the Spectre from Autozone and could feel a difference performance wise as well as hear the turbo spool and BOV. I then upgraded to the K&N cone filter, It feels exactly the same. But i preferred the name brand I guess.
Just ordered my WORKS High-Flow Drop-In Air Filter yesterday.
WTF indeed. Apparently the air filter comes with a longer ratio gearbox.
Am I the only one that thinks this filter is over priced? It's just an aftermarket filter.
^
I think the Works Filter is way over price. Its not like they have some special
magic Fiber cloth or something. You can get a K&N Cone with 3 inch Fitting for less then 1/2 the price. Or get a K&N drop in filter. Work just know how to play the game well.
because with the The EVO-X being so new, People like to keep it stock for warranty+ just dont like sound of a Blow off going off on everyshift.
For those of you that put in a new intake/filter. What mileage did you install it? I'm just over 600 and starting to get the revs up more to break it in. I got my buschur intake today but I was wondering how long you guys think I should wait before I install it.
Just install it now. Its not going to hurt anything, and the sooner you get it in, the quicker the computer will learn the new air flow.

:+1: I going with a KN filter. Spectre is a $20 piece of junk. Very restrictive from what I heard.
^^^^Hi guys!

I read about this work filter and very tempted to buy it for my new X. Can someone tell me if this is something you can do yourself?

Thanks
