Lately the car seems to be flashing the brake light and ((!)) symbol for a split second. I googled and it came up to be possible low brake fluid..

I have about 25k on the car and the pads are wearing out so fluid in the resovoir indeed could be low.. I want to make sure I top it off with the right fluid!

so is it DOT3, DOT4 or DOT5?

Be careful on refilling, as the reservoir was full when the brake pads were new. As the pads wear, the fluid level goes down. When you replace the brake pads and push the caliper pistons back in, the fluid is going to go up again. If the reservoir is full and the pads are almost gone, when you install the new pads and push the pistons back in, the reservoir is going to overflow.
