So My brother is getting a ZO6, and just wondering what is needed to take it.. i believe it comes with 505hp but... do i need that much or maybe like 450 with a amazing tune?? I'm currently leaning towards the deal from speed circuit with the FP series.. Would FP GREEN get the job done?

Thanks

big turbo! and probably more than 450whp, unless its 450whp on a mustang dyno..

Z06's are beast, i believe stock ones make about 440-460whp and 410-430wtq (dynojet numbers).. add bolt ons and they are around 500whp 450wtq... keep in mind they are also couple hundred pounds lighter than our cars too, i think.. sigh, these cars are fast on a roll, especially from 120+

When I had 400whp/400wtq I got humiliated by one, like I felt very sad.

You will need closer to 500whp imo to hang,t hey are beast.

My advice, get a z06 yourself lol, I wish I did.

If we are talking 1/4mile
Just putting this out there I raced with a guy who put down a 10.98 @129mph on a 100% bone stock Z06 (yes the stock shitty run-flat's as well) *** Validated by track official*** And a 10.7 something on drag radials.
Link to time slip

Yes Jamie is a phenomenal driver when it comes to drag and road course racing but low 11's are easily found by a good driver in a stock Z06

Road Course
Open course you are going to need at very least a bolt-on + FP Red on 93 I would say to keep up with a stock Z06

Tight course you could probably hang with one in an all bolt-on + FP Green on 93 Evo

Also a lot will depend on yours and your brothers ability behind the wheel but considering all things equal thats what I am going to say... I only drove our Z06 once before it received the 800hp kit but from other buddies with them and me with an all bolt-on Evo X, thats my best guess as to what you will need.

If you push your evo to the power numbers required to beat a Z06 it's going to cost you a pretty penny, the reliability will be shot, you'll need to build the engine or will be looking at it in the near future. Honestly, it's not worth it.

Good luck! On and off the track those cars are FAST. They usually show up at HPDE's with HUGE slicks and lots of experience. Even the old ones are fast.

Nice to see our community being realistic about what we can and cannot do. It's encouraging to see people here with the maturity to admit that faster, better handling, and even better looking cars exist.

When I see a car I KNOW is faster, I enjoy watching just how quickly they pull away!

C5 or C6 Z06?

Also just as a frame of reference (not that this is a perfect example but close)
I ran a C6 vette (non z06) that had intake, exhaust, cams, ported head, clutch, flywheel, (guy said longer gear ratio?) and a tune on 93 gas on a 20-120 roll and he had me by right at 1/2 a car.

The guy said this car was faster than his C5 z06 (without the 250 shot of nitrous of course)

My build is here: http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48129

I'm having this same discussion on my Mazdaspeed forum cause those guys just reached 500 whp and traping 122-125 and I STILL don't think they can take out a well driven stock c6 z06. Fucking cars are great

i see them at the track a lot. the ones with the best drivers are about dead even with me running i/e/fmic and a tune. they win the straights, i take the corners, as expected. but lap-to-lap, its pretty even, where we trade overtakes for several laps until someone gets bored/messed up. if your goal is to take a c6 on the straights, you'll be MUCH quicker over-all.... like several seconds a lap

zr1's are a different story. They can carry almost as much speed through the corners as the evo and have a hell of a lot more kick in a straight line. thats about as close to a street-legal race care as you can get, and its a different league
