What oil type/weight is recommended for the Evo X? Does it come with a synthetic as factory fill or use special break in oil?

Recommended oil from the factory is Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w30.

Oil filter is the same as the one on the EVO9 part #MZ690116. Dont forget to pickup a crush washer. They are usually sold separately but most dealers throw it in for free.

For aftermarket K&N Oil Filters, it uses Part #HP-1010. I always use the factory one just to be safe....

Im sure theres varied opinions on which brand is "best"

I for one, exclusively used Lubromoly in the past for my bimmers. Also I have heard Royal purple and Eonos as being up there in quality as well.

Mobil will hit Valvoline or Penzoil but they will never compare their oil to AMSOIL.

Do you have a cliff-notes version of this test? Im not sure what the end result of this test was and/or what it was trying to accomplish and/or how this is related to OIL...

I've always used Mitsubishi genuine oil filters on my '05 Evo without a hitch. I would recommend it to anyone looking to follow a healthy maintenance regimen. As stated above, the crush washer must be used at each oil change regimen. I would not really deviate too much from what the factory dictates as recommended maintenance.

Wait is that telling you to change the oil with the vehicle ..ON?!?!?! God I hope not I saw turn car on...never saw a turn off...but I did see turn vehicle on again later for checking levels....I know I look stupid asking [email protected][email protected]

Nope, oil changes ARE NOT covered under warranty... at least here in the US.

However! Southcoast Mitsubishi here in Southern California does some pretty unheard things...

Not only do they sell the X well below MSRP AT/DURING/AFTER launch, but they actually also give free lifetime oil changes to any of their customers as long as the car came from them.... Now THATS what I call service!

I also used Mitsubishi genuine oil filters for my 03 VIII with Royal Purple 10w-30.
I am going to do the same with my X.

its when you have a crush on your neighbors wife, and the washer comes to take you out...





















its a washer that you put on the oil drain bolt to create a seal between the drain plug and the oil pan... You need one everytime you change the oil.
