So my dads looking at getting himself a new SUV.

He likes HP, I think his budget is under 40,000$. What kind of SUV's would you guys recommend? (Keep in mind I live in Canada where vehicles are a bit more pricey than America).

He was looking at the Outlander but its got a lousy 230hp /:

I don't know what the prices up there are, but I saw the new Jeep Grand Cherokee at the auto show a few weeks ago and it looked fantastic. You could also look into the toyota highlander. My dad has one of those and loves it. Does he prefer a particular manufacturer or country of origin?

Yea the srt8 Cherokee is nice but thats far too much hp.

I have heard nothing but good things about Jeeps 2012 Cherokee though. I am pretty sure he won't do Volkswagon just because the parts are soo expensive and not many dealerships around.

Mercedes huh lol, hmmmm. lol. I don't know .. if he is anything like me lmao.

Il look into them I just cant help but see "price tag cars" my dads a really non-flashy dude. I know he wants comfort, style and performance which is what Mercedes is. But its a benz /: , I think the Cherokee would be perfect or a Caddy. never driven any of the trucks though.

I'm telling you check out the Audi. They're good looking, but subtle enough. Definitely comfy and that 2.0T is an amazing engine. Less HP than the 3.2, but more torque (you know, what really matters lol). They're nice enough to be considered a luxury company, but the repair bill won't be as much as a benz if something does go wrong.

The Q5 huh. Hmm why not the bigger engine that purrs? Turbos are more maintainence and I know I'll be the one driving over and doing it.

I'll look into them tomorrow. Def am considering the q5, not sure if the Caddy is ahead or not. I know the lexus has a really nice suv but I can't help but think "Soccer mom" when I see one.

Like I said, more tq. And what's wrong with the noise? evo's purr and they're 4 cylinders lol my mom actually has the same engine in her a4 and it sounds beautiful completely stock. It might be a tad more sluggish in the q5 comparatively but by my experience it would still be plenty fast.

lmao they're trying with the LFA, but I completely agree. I just can't get over that feeling.

im not a big fan of the caddy srx. its based on the same platform as the csv, which i love... but its not an suv platform! maybe consider the csv wagon if he more needs room than ride height and off road utility.

but the more you talk about what he'd like, I'm thinking the grand cherokee is the way to go. You can get a grand cherokee lerado, fully loaded with the 5.7l hemi v8, nav, offroad package, tow package, etc for under $40k. def the best bang for your buck and one hell of a nice and super reliable suv. not too flash, not too outrageous, but good at what its supposed to be good at
