Q: What's the story with user titles? Is there a significance to the title under a username?

A: Generally speaking, the title under a username is a reflection of how many posts that user has. Currently, a member with less than 30 posts will be a "n00b" (ie, a newbie), and so on. Different post numbers will result in a different user title.

I am always open to suggestions on making new titles and title graduation increments. If you have some solid ideas, post a thread in the Feedback forum.

On occasion, you may see some titles that don't fit the above rankings. Those are custom titles that we may assign as we see fit, generally just to keep things fun.

You may also notice that some users have their names written in red, and underneath their title is an additional title surrounded by brackets. Those are our staff members, and their staff position is in those brackets.

Merchants and such get their own set of user titles and gray usernames.

Local Team Members will have names that appear in gold.

Then there are Gearheads. The Gearhead status will be handed out to our more knowledgeable members who help people out with technical issues. Gearheads titles can only be handed out to regular members, since many staff members and/or merchants inherently fall into this category. The Gearheads status comes with a dark blue username text and a larger PM inbox to handle all of the questions they might get.

If a member falls into several of the above categories, the most prestigious (relative to their duty on this forum) will determine the color of their name.

Let me know if there are any issues you encounter with this.
