With Subaru Cash BACK... is anyone considering....

Purchasing an 08 Subaru Legacy Spec B in Canada?

with 7000 cash back and with 10% wiggle room on pricing... I expect you can pick up a Legacy Spec B for around 34k with Taxes, doc fees, PDI etc. You are looking at about $41,000 out the door.

I have a deposit on a EVO GSR and an MR. The Subie dealer expects the STI to be priced around $43-$45k and the Evo is expect to be around there as well.

So yes.. i'm giving up a bit of performance but gain a lot of luxury items. It seems like the new Evo X and STi are heading towards that direction anyways.

With the 10k in savings you could buy some really goodies for the Spec B and probably make it just as fast as the STI or EVO X with more luxury and Class.

Any thoughts???

I'm serious considering this root. Since I do 95% of my driving on the streets and will do 2-3 trackdays a year.

Why not just do a standard Legacy GT and tune for less? Personally I do not think the Spec B package is worth it. You are getting 18" rims, Bilstein sport shocks and struts, and Si-Drive, 6speed manual with VDC, trunklid lip spoiler, and leather-trimmed upholstery with Alcantara. I've driven my cousin's stock Spec B which is really nice but my old 05 LGT limited with suspension, lightweight rims, intake, software, and exhaust drove and handled alot better. With just software alone the LGT will be making 300hp at the flywheel. I tuned the LGT for less then the Spec B package.

I would just start with a standard 5 speed Legacy GT limited or look at a Mazdaspeed 6 GT.

I'd recommend test driving all of the above cars first.

I had a friend who wanted to do what you're talking about here...but after test driving the STi and the Legacy back to back, there was no comparison.

The thing that I think are different between the Spec B and STI is that the Spec B is a sleeper where the STI is in your face pull be over with its appearance. I do like the STI but am more likely to buy the Legacy for a couple of things. The looks, size, and ride.

my friend and I negotiated the deal together for two 08 spec Bs. Right now $7000 for the spec b and $8000 cashback for the legacy Gt. Pm me for details Ill tell who to deal with to score a sweet deal. I think we ended up knocking over $10000 of list price each.

A dealer has two Spec Bs on their lot? I can not even find one new in New England. I can find alot of Legacys and Mazdaspeed 6ers.
