I think it is because the owner doesnt have a wideband and instead of buying one the shop will place it there to complete the tune properly.

well usually people buy a testpipe with a wideband and when they wannna buy a downpipe they dont really need another wideband. My a/f ratio reading are pretty good with the wideband on the testpipe

Im sure they are. If you already have it there then I wouldnt worry about it, but it is more accurate in the DP.

Ok i was always curious about that.

yea i agree..but it wouldnt be a huge difference on the reading.

So what dp did you get?? I have map o2 eliminator dp taking the exhaust was pretty easy but I did have little hard time installing the dp due to shape of it but overall it wasn't too hard. The sound is not too bad unless you really get on it.

i got the ams widemouth. Lat night i was talking to a friend that recently installed the ets open, and the weld that connects the dump with the downpipe broke. His car was lowered and not even as low as mine, so i wouldnt wanna risk it. :confused2:

ams is the way to go. Took me 6 hours to install though, to be fair it was my first DP install, and first time really getting under the evo.

yea the ets, we had to take the bumper off to make it easier to access.

ets recirc and ams widemouth should be about even on quality and performance. keep the o2 dumps on the track.
This. I havnt run into anyone with an ets recirc. downpipe that has had any problems. I have this one myself and has been nice. I've only heard of the ets dumps failing. On the tuning aspect the dp gains are minimal on stock turbo.

yea i know ets and ams recirc are both as good..i was reffering to the ets open dump

He must have older design of the ETS dump tube. My friend had one and the o2 dump tube broke up but I'm sure ETS fix that design.

DP install is cake take you 10-20 min to bolt it on. the uninstall of the OEM o2 housing is the PITA.

i'm running ETS recir , haven't found reason to change up yet.
the open dump i think is flawed do to the vibration and stress on the part don't think there would be a exact fix to that. You got a fire breathing wastegate blowing through a narrow one weld stainless steel pipe.maybe titanium would be better solution for the dump pipe IMO.
^^^
that's just for ETS think MAP uses a v band clamp correct me if i'm wrong.

bump an old thread. still debating between the two for my car. pretty much straight piped as of right now with stock DP. Curious which would sound better, anyone run a similar set? ETS test pipe, ETS V2 extreme. not worried about being louder, louder=better lol no emissions here no tickets.

ETS o2 dump seems like the one for you then. If you're not worried about being a little louder than you are now, then go for it. You will get a nice gain in power from it too as an added benefit! A buddy of mine here has all the basic bolt ons, but added the GSC S2 cams and valve springs, along with the ETS dump and made 385.5whp on 92 octane pump gas!

^ yeah I've been leaning towards going with ETS open dump, when someone asked me what exhaust I could just say Full ETS system lol. anyone have trouble with the dumps breaking? I've read that someone before

I've seen one that cracked apparently from engine movement, and then heard of another one that cracked, but that's it. However, that's amazing quality for how many are out there, and ETS has amazing customer service, and I'm sure ETS would be more than happy to help you out if anything like that happened.

My ETS recirc dp is still doing fine.
