WORKS Diverter Valve - 2008+ EVO X

Image

The WORKS Diverter Valve is an OEM-style unit featuring all-metal construction (except internal diaphragm). The DV utilizes a unique internal design to balance maximum boost pressure regulation while maintaining excellent drivability. Special fastening hardware ensures a superior airtight seal.

Holds upwards of 30psi (when properly installed) and since 100% of the discharged boost pressure is returned back to the intake, the WORKS DV ensures the best performance possible.

You cannot get a better EVO X valve for performance, reliability and daily drivability.

Application: '08 EVO X including GSR and MR

QUESTION

WORKS,

I am trying to figure out what your EVO X diverter valve consists of. It looks like a stock unit replacement, however are the internals changed out in your units to hold boost better. I don't want to buy another "stock" BOV that will hold barely 25psi of boost. I tried using a reciculated FORGE RS BOV on my car and I keep getting a CEL light for p1241 Torque Limit. The problem is the BOV will throw the code on uphills at part throttle switch to stock problem is eliminated. So I need a stock like replacement that holds boost much better.
ANSWER

Our Diverter Valve does have uprated internal components. We've used in on cars up to 29 psi without failure.

The other option would be to go with a GFB recirculating style Blow off Valve, they are adjustable as to how much they weill vent, so you might be able to adjust it to full recirculate and not have issues with the light. They are rated around the same 30+ PSI I think.

Hope that helps,

This is a good option for people who want to upgrade their BOV due to running higher PSI on various turbos.

I say this is probably the best option for a recirc valve if you want to upgrade. Too many of these BOV cause a CEL to come on.

Just sharing some knowledge.

Probably one of the better valves for stock like drive-ability and performance. I will be probably soon getting one as soon as I finish some more testing on my car with the stock BOV.

I'm sure he will chime in here soon.

I am glad you checked this out. a week or so ago when I was driving me car trying to log, I swear I heard the flutter like the BOV was leaking during the peak boost areas of my run... Are there any other signs to look for if a BOV is leaking?

I had the GFB in my IX and it held around 28psi fine.

I actually got it for my X too now. its been working perfect at 25psi which no issues. Today im going to be dropping the car off at Ivey and when i get it back i might be around 30psi so im hoping the GFB BOV will hold up too it. I think it should.

Let us know how it goes. I was debating the WORKS DV or GFB Stealth FX valve. Both were recommended by WORKS.

However, I saw a thread on EVOm where someone had their ASC light come on with the GFB Stealth FX BOV.

So you are saying you have no issues. What are the settings you are running on that valve? For spring preload and venting?

Thanks!

Yup its the Stealth-FX. Spring is set all the way to (-) and i have no fluttering issues...if i start to tighten it it flutters. I gotta see how it reacts to 30psi all the way (-)...im not sure if that would effect it but thats what im at now. Venting im very very little to the atmosphere. Its actually pretty loud considering im prob 80% or more recirculated i would guess. I have put it all the way VTA just to mess around and hear it and its actually too freaking loud lol im happy the way its at now which is very little VTA and spring all the way (-) and no driving issues.

Because it doesn't hold boost very well >25 psi.

I found out last night that my stock BPV is leaking pretty bad on stock boost and needs to be replaced. It's clearly audible too. Sounds like an angry tea kettle.

Yes some stock bovs work well up to mid 20s others do not. I am doing testing on my bov and how much it holds. But I need a valve that will hold 30 psi for my project. So I want to find the most compatible valve with the evo x.

Tweak your airflow and torque limit tables, use any BOV you want and you'll never throw those codes again. It's not the BOV causing it. I used the HKS SSQV and now I have the Tial 50mm, both VTA, neither throws any codes. The only time I've thrown airflow/torque limit codes was from the MBC or aggressive MIVEC maps spooling the turbo faster than normal, and even that can be tuned for.

About 10" down from the throttle body on my Nisei LICP. I cut off the nipple for the stock valve, welded a patch over the hole, cut a new hole slightly higher on the pipe and welded on the Tial flange. It sits almost directly under the air filter on my AMS short ram.

I'll grab a picture tomorrow in the daylight.

As of now I bought a used GFB Stealth FX to test how that one works. If all else fails, I am going to try the WORKS one as a last ditch effort. The GFB was also recommended to me by WORKS so we will see if it will work properly.

#21 ·
hopefully the GFB will work for us...i actually bought mine used too. i was pissed because i had one on my IX and i took it off and it got lost from staying in my friends garage so i bought a used one. But mine held 28psi on my IX so im hoping it will be OK on my X. My car is at Ivey now getting everything put in, so sometime next week it should be done and i'll know how it holds. Just incase i gave Ivey my stock BOV too...who knows lol

My GFB Stealth FX holds 29PSI...

#26 ·
What settings are you using for your set up. Any chance you can let us know. :)

#28 ·
Well I just got the GFB Stealth FX BOV on. So far so good. I am running 80% recirculation and 20% vent to atomosphere. The spring tension is set to the negative as much as possible. Nice smooth release in all 5 gears, no CEL's, and no noticeable flutter, sometimes in 5th gear at 75-80mph it feels like it might flutter but it doesn't. Holds 26psi of boost easily. Best of all it is closed at idle like the stock BOV. Unlike my Forge RS that was open in idle all the time. No p1241 codes reared its head yet.

Pics coming soon.

looks like your running the same settings as me Clipse...good to hear its holding fine. My car is almost complete at Ivey...hopefully it will hit the dyno by the end of this week and we'll see how it does at higher boost.

Yeah, keep us informed. How things will work, and what Ivey tuned the GFB BOV settings to.
